A Rare opportunity to experience the Great Eastern Hotel. My place has great views, art and culture, restaurants and dining, beautiful walks and the beach. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, business travellers, and families (with kids). The Lookout is on the top floor of Quayside Court and offers stunning views across the estuary of the rivers Stour and Orwell. Quayside Court, once the Great Eastern Hotel, is an impressive grade II listed building located in the heart of Old Harwich, sitting on the Quay opposite the Ha’penny Pier, where the steam packets used to come in for passengers to embark or disembark. There are a huge variety of things to do in and around Harwich for all ages. Stroll around Harwich with its unique Pubs, cafes, shops and restaurants or just sit and watch the activity at Felixstowe Docks across the river. Visit the Mayflower Project, visit the many heritage sites, walk the Heritage Trail or go crabbing on the pier. Just a few minutes walk away is the beautiful blue flag beach . Harwich’s many different festivals, held throughout the year, are very well supported and create a lovely atmosphere. With large picture windows offering fantastic views of the estuary from every room, this cosy accommodation is furnished and equipped to a high standard and offers 2 bedrooms, one double room and one twin room, bathroom with shower over bath, large living room with TV, kitchen diner with dishwasher, microwave, fridge with small freezer compartment and single oven. Amenities: Free parking, bed linen, towels, Free WiFi, electric and heating included. No Smoking is permitted in the apartment or in the common areas. Small dogs are allowed with permission at an extra charge. Arrival time is from 3pm and check out is 10am. For your convenience there is parking to the rear of the property for residence, please sign in the guest book with vehicle registration located in the foyer. Also the Foyer can be used for viewing The Quay and a meeting place for small groups. There is a lift for your comfort to take you to the penthouse suite called The Lookout Valentines Holiday lettings have other properties in the area and have a office located in the building located in Suite one on the ground floor for guest services. There is over ten different places to eat within 5 minutes walk. and even more places to have a drink, there are several places have live music, including one of the oldest running cinema in the UK. There is a couple of convenience stores nearby and several large supermarkets 5 minutes drive. Explore further and take the foot ferry from Ha’penny Pier across the River Stour to Shotley or across the River Orwell to Landguard Point at Felixstowe, both ideal picnic destinations and great for walking or cycling. A short drive away is historic Colchester, Britain’s oldest recorded town, Mersea Island, Britain’s most easterly inhabited island or Manningtree, home of Matthew Hopkins the Witchfinder General and the only town in Essex mentioned by Shakespeare in one of his plays. London is also easily accessible by train for a day out. By Train, the station Harwich Town is just 6 minutes walk, By Ship or Ferry, Harwich International Port is a ten minute cab or train ride away. By Sea the docking pier for private yachts and crafts is immediately outside the building at Harwich Pier. By Road, is just 20 minutes from the A12 at Colchester on the A120. By Air, London/Stansted is 40 minutes drive. By Foot, its at the end of the famous Essex Way trekking path.
