1890 2 STOREY HAYLOFT - BAROSSA HILLS COTTAGES
The Hayloft and Stables are our holiday homes that we enjoy so much, and from May 2021, we wanted to 'share' with others. The converted hayloft is a romantic getaway for a couple , with a single sofa bed located downstairs in the common area if required. (Max 3 people). Upstairs in the Parisienne bedroom, with ceiling fan & split system aircon, there is a beautiful view over the courtyard and ponds. (We also have Chromecast for your streaming) The beauty of The Hayloft is knowing that the Stables cottage is also on the property, should you need extra accommodation for family or friends. Whether you are visiting the Barossa, the Murray River, the Hills, or you just want a relaxing time away from the hustle and bustle, our cottages, built in the 1890s are for you. Cuddle up in front of the lovely wood fire in the Stables, or go upstairs in the Hayloft. The grounds of the cottages are wonderfully peaceful, with a billabong, windmill, firepits, and even emus, geese and chooks looking through the fence. To get to the 'secret' cottages, you drive down a hidden driveway, park your car, and then enter the cottages, located on around 1 acre of land. There are ponds, and even a boat to relax on, in the billabong. Walk to the general store, pub, or cellar door, or hop in the car for a short ride to all the Barossa attractions, the National Motor Museum, the Murray River at Mannum, the Mt Pleasant Farmers Markets, Mt Crawford forest hikes, and much much more. You will sense the history, as the complex was built for the original Herbig family, who lived in the famous tree, located just outside of Springton. The historic hamlet of Springton, population 600, is located in an amazing location to explore the local area: The cottages are directly opposite the Edenmae cellar door, for tasting platters and food on Friday, Saturday and Sunday All the Barossa wineries are within 30 minutes, with the cloest being Henschke, Suffield, Eden Hall, Fernfield, Eden Valley, Rileys, Mountadam, etc A must visit (just 5 mins away) is the Mt Pleasant Farmers Market (every Saturday 8am-12noon) - (Have a wonderful cooked breakfast there) 20 minutes from Historic Angaston, as well as Nurioopta, Tanunda (go via the Menglers Hill lookout) and Lyndoch Take a 1km hike to the beautiful view of the forests and valleys from Mount Pleasant Summit (5 minute drive to trailhead on Glen Devon Rd) Springton General Store and Post office is opposite, for all your food and drink (and fuel) needs (8am -6pm M-F, 9am-5pm Weekend) The Herbig family tree and historic Springton Lutheran Church are walking distance, as are peaceful paddocks and vineyards Just 30 minutes to the Murray River, (and its Antique shops and riverside parks) at Mannum 15 minutes to the National Motor Museum in Birdwood Golf at Mt Pleasant and Districts golf course (4 minutes away) If you have kids, you must visit the new Angaston Train Station Playground Wining and Dining In addition to the huge choice of Barossa restaurants and cellar doors, there are the following local outlets: The Springton Hotel is 50 metres away, with its great pub food every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.
