Enjoy charm, class, and comfort in this beautiful farmhouse built in 1861. Nestled in a peaceful clearing in the woods above the popular Silver Lake recreation area, this farm house offers a unique escape to the past. Step up to the lovingly restored deep wraparound porch complete with comfortable wicker seating and enter this unique home which is furnished with beautiful antiques and treasures from world travels. Surrounded by picturesque forest and fruit orchards, the property invites you to stroll the perennial garden pathway and enjoy its bubbling fountain. The country kitchen, gracious dining room, and comfortable living room with fireplace are available for guests to enjoy. The house boasts an enormous wrap around porch amply furnished with comfy wicker chairs, tables, and couches for enjoying an alfresco breakfast or sipping a crisp wine as the day's light fades and fireflies light up the evening. Guests are welcome to visit the Barn Antiques next door on the property. This Barn was built around 1851 and has been lovingly restored into a gift and antique shop. The shop is open Thursday’s through Saturdays during the summer months. Host will be available during your stay. Host will live in back of house and use the unattached garage or bedroom shed behind the barn. Located adjacent to an established landmark: The Barn Antiques; this classic red farmhouse has often been envied from afar but is now being shared with guests. The sprawling property served as a high point lookout over Lake Michigan and Silver Lake during the Civil War and includes a delicious tangle of fresh berries every summer which earned it the local title of "Blackberry Hill". It is a short 10 minute walk to Silver Lake with its beautiful sand dunes; two miles from Lake Michigan’s Little Pointe Sable lighthouse and Lake Michigan beach; and close to the first Michigan Rail Trail bike path, wineries and farm markets. Silver Lake camping area, dune buggy trails, and lake recreation are just 10 minutes away but guests will be able to enjoy only the sounds of nature in this restful escape above the lakes. Although there is no public transportation in the county, the first rail to trails bike path in Michigan is located in Oceana County. Bike or walk the 26miles trail from Hart to Montague through beautiful orchards and fields, past quaint villages, and don't forget to stop for ice cream at the famous Country Dairy in New Era. Bike rental is available at Silver Lake and other sites within the county. The farm is home to a beautiful and friendly malamute husky dog, a cat and chickens who provide fresh eggs daily for guests breakfast.
