Fingals Green Oak Barn with shared swimming pool

We built this traditional Carpenter Oak green-oak framed barn in 1987. Constructed with heavy oak beams and trusses over a large open plan area it is glazed between the uprights giving it a wonderful light, rustic, warm and spacious feeling. It is situated by the pool on two levels with the downstairs bedroom opening onto it’s own private patio garden. The Barn has a private balcony overlooking the grass tennis court with stairs leading down to the shared indoor heated pool ... perfect! The Fingals Barn is a unique living space - one huge room with green oak trusses in the roof. This is an early frame built by the local firm Carpenter Oak. The Balcony over looks the tennis court and the garden and during the Summer months is a wonderful spot to have your early evening aperitifs and eat alfresco. There are three bedrooms, two upstairs a twin with a toilet and a double with a shared bathroom. Downstairs is a kingsize bed with ensuite bathroom with shower. The large sitting room upstairs is open plan with a wonderful grand piano at one end. The dining area also upstairs adjacent to the sitting room has a large dining table and open plan kitchen with all mod cons. Larger parties might want to book The Wisteria suite (sleeps 4) next door to the barn and share meals. Downstairs the double bedroom has its own private patio surrounded by greenery. Guest access The Barn has a lovely sunny outlook with a covered private balcony overlooking the tennis court. It faces Southwest so it makes a perfect place to eat alfresco or have an evening aperitif with the glow of the evening sun. You have access to other amenities and are most welcome to use the free heated swimming pool, grass tennis court (May to September), croquet, snooker table or ping pong if you are feeling energetic. All of these facilities are shared with other guests. If you just want to chill out with a drink in our beautiful garden. Interaction with guests We love having people to stay and are very happy to give advice but we won't fuss over you like mother hens! Other things to note There is no need to exert yourself while you are here and you may just want to relax around Fingals in order to go home refreshed. We have a couple of bikes here that you can borrow, you could set up the croquet on the lawn, play a game of lawn tennis or have a swim and then warm up in the garden with a good book and a cup of tea. But there is so much on offer in our wonderful corner of Devon that you could pick a different activity and area to explore every day and still have to come back for more! We live on site with our two lurchers and 3 pygmy goats so are available to answer any questions but will respect your privacy so will not be intrusive. Fingals is quite remote, one mile from the village of Dittisham down narrow Devon lanes with high hedges. We are in a valley about 15 minutes walk from the River (Website hidden by Airbnb) is quite lovely - we'll give you a map! There is a passenger ferry from Dittisham who goes to Dartmouth and back and another passenger ferry which goes across the river to Greenway, Agatha Christie's house. There is no mobile phone signal here - it is so peaceful and quiet! However, there is free wifi everywhere so you can stay connected to the outside world if you need to!
