We are located 5 minutes west of the thriving hinterland community of Cooroy. The 60m² studio itself is situated on a our magical ridgetop haven, where you will reside amongst the old-growth eucalyptus forest, regenerating rainforest and its inhabitants. There are spectacular views every way you look, including the most prominent view of Mt. Cooroy (as pictured). High ceilings and many glass windows and doors will help you appreciate this beauty wherever you choose to sit. Karmya Cabin is a true nature-lovers retreat. It is private and wildlife abounds. While the old growth forest is along the ridge, elsewhere on the property the wildlife habitat has been extended over the years by the planting of more than 5,000 trees. Feel free to wander around and see for yourself! There is a track along the ridge (approx. 600m round trip) for you to enjoy at your leisure and take in the magic. You are likely to encounter foraging wallabies, butterflies, dozens of bird species...maybe even a goanna or echidna! YOUR ACCOMMODATION: We have put all our love into this studio to make it as warm, welcoming, comfortable, relaxing and intimate as possible. We always try to leave a light footprint on the Earth and Karmya Cabin is no exception. Approximately 95% of all items you will find in and around the place have been sourced from second-hand retailers or made from recycled and/or eco-friendly materials. Always local wherever possible. The electricity is sourced from solar panels on the shed, water is pure rainwater collected from the shed roof and septic is bio-cycle, processed onsite. For your comfort the bedroom does have a reverse cycle aircon in the rare event that you should require it and the main living space has a fan for some of our hotter summer days. There is a lovely fireplace for you to enjoy using wood from trees and branches we have collected/chopped after they have fallen naturally on the property - a super eco-friendly way to keep toasty! The kitchen has everything you need for your stay should you wish to fully self-cater. If you are a coffee fan, there is a deluxe manual coffee brewing system in the pantry - and we provide our favourite local, certified organic, fairtrade coffee for your brewing pleasure. If you're more of a tea-lover, there is also a small tea pot with lovely local loose leaf teas provided (or ordinary bags as well). Depending on the season, we may be able to provide you with our own mangoes, avocados, lemons, limes, mandarins, chilies, kaffir limes and some fresh herbs. A small welcome basket of local goodies will greet you (but please inform us of any dietary restrictions/allergies so we can best cater to you). Your Queen Bed is a high quality mattress, made up with luxurious bamboo/cotton blend linen and bamboo, hypo-allergenic doona. Of your four pillows, there are two "firm" and two "medium/soft" for your comfort. Your bathrobes are 100% bamboo and your towels are Egyptian Cotton and certified Oeko-Tex (eco-friendly and free from harmful substances). There is a reading nook with comfy, retro La-Z-Boy recliner chairs and a stocked bookshelf with books to borrow, cards or a chess game to play as well as meditative colouring books with pencils. If you simply can't get by without a bit of media, there is a Bluetooth soundbar as well as a TV with free to air channels, however we encourage you to unplug, unwind and reconnect with each other and nature. EXTRA SERVICES AVAILABLE: - FULL BODY MASSAGE: Casey's healing space is set up in the small studio beside your cabin. THE SURROUNDS: Karmya Cabin is a 5 minute drive Cooroy where you will find eateries, coffee shops, an award winning IGA supermarket, the old Butter Factory (now an art gallery and gift store), op-shops, historic walking trails and one of the Noosa Botanic Gardens. It’s a 10 minute drive to the world famous Eumundi markets which are held Wednesdays and Saturdays. Noosaville and it's riverside restaurants and shops are only 15-20 minutes, with Noosa Heads only 5-10 minutes further. Pomona, to our north (where King of the Mountain is held each year) and Cooran are also worth exploring. We have plenty of recommendations and will leave a Guest Folder on the coffee table for your perusal (that is, if you want to leave at all!). Of course you can also just ask us - we're happy to share! *Please note that this property is in a forest setting and as such, amongst the other magnificent flora/fauna it is possible that you may come across spiders/webs, ants, midgies, mozzies etc. We will provide outdoor mosquito coils as well as a natural insect repellent for your use, although not always necessary (dependent on season and weather). We have occasional snake sightings, however, an encounter is unlikely.* And yes, we are gay-friendly, straight-friendly, questioning-friendly, age-gap-love friendly, trans-friendly...just all around friendly! :) The studio is completely self-contained and yours to enjoy. You also have the entire the property to explore. The ridge track is a relatively flat walk and can be enjoyed by most. If you are more of an experienced bush walker with a moderate to high fitness level, you may be keen to explore a bit more and make the trek up and down the hill to the cabin. We are happy to make suggestions and show you our property boundaries. Access to the cabin is via a well-maintained but steep gravel road that is strictly limited to 4WD/AWD vehicles. If you will not be arriving in a suitable vehicle, please inform us and we will arrange for your transport to/from the cabin. Trips up and down the hill can also be done on foot via the hill road or through our beautiful fern gully track, a medium fitness level will be required however. There is car parking space on the grass at the foot of the hill if required, . Trust us (and our reviews) that this should not hinder your decision to stay here - it's well worth it! We live in the main house at the bottom of the hill (not visible from cabin) and either one of us will be available to assist with any questions or concerns you may have during your stay in person. If neither of us are home, we are only a phone call away and usually not too far from home. There is an Guest Booklet full of information as well as brochures for those who wish to explore Cooroy and surrounds. If you can't find what you need there, simply ask Casey and Jodie. Parking is available onsite but is not undercover either at the cabin or at the spot at the bottom of the hill road. You will need an AWD/4WD vehicle to transport yourself up and down the hill to Karmya Cabin, however, we may be able to provide transport for you but you will need to inform us that you’re vehicle is not suitable upon booking with us so that we can ensure we can help you. You need a car or motorcycle to get to and from town. Buses leaving from Cooroy to Noosa and surrounding areas are available and depending on our schedule, we may be able to drop you to a bus. IMPORTANT: - Due to the coronavirus, we’re taking extra care to disinfect frequently touched surfaces between reservations. We are also for the time being only open for bookings for a min of 3 nights (Thurs-Mon). Please contact us directly for longer stays and rates. - The property harvests its own roof water, so we ask that you keep that in mind during your stay. - The waste system is a bio-cycle so ONLY bodily wastes and toilet paper down the toilet.
