Maison de la riviere is a 3-bedroom boutique holiday cottage by the river Saison, in SW France. Recently and lovingly renovated, it boasts two stylish sitting-rooms, a large fully-equipped kitchen, a spacious terrace with views over the river Saison, a decadent bathroom and 10 acres of land for you to roam around. Take refreshing swims or fish in the river from our very own secluded beach, enjoy fresh eggs, leisurely walks or feed our farm animals (five goats, a horse and two ponies). We have three double-bedrooms with two double beds and two single beds, as well as a sofa bed in one of the two sitting rooms, which can sleep up to 8 people. We also have a travel baby bed if needed. The main bathroom has a shower and a bath and we also have an additional toilet on the ground floor. The terrace comes with two relaxing loungers, a table with seating for 6 and a barbecue. The kitchen has a stove, a dishwasher, a fridge, washing machine, microwave and toaster. The whole house has central heating and we also have a fire burner. We provide bedding and towels for all guests. Parking is also available on site. The guests will be able to enjoy the entire house, as well as the outdoors space. Maison de la riviere may sometimes (usually during July and August and Christmas / New Year) be booked at the same time as Grange de la Riviere, a neighbouring 4-bedroom renovated barn. We live in the house next door and are available if needed. Occasionally, there will be other guests renting the barn so guests might have to share some of the outdoor areas with other holiday makers. We live in the charming village of Autevielle, only a few minutes' stroll from a beloved local bar and restaurant: Auberge Blondain. Five minutes drive, is the medieval village of Sauveterre de Bearn where all the commerce and amenities are available. We are perfectly located in the middle between the lovely villages of Navarrenx, Salies de Bearn, Saint Palais or Saint Jean Pied de Port, where you can find more commerce and restaurants. 15 minutes drive, is the beautiful Chateau de Laas, a children's favourite, famous for its three musketeers treasure hunt. You can reach the Atlantic coast within 1hr drive to enjoy its beautiful beaches and elegant seaside towns such as Biarritz, Saint Jean de Luz or Hendaye. The beautiful city of Pau is also less than 1hr drive, which we recommend visiting in the winter for stunning views over the Pyrenees. The ski slopes of La Gourette and La Pierre St Martin are 1.5 hrs drive, perfect for a day trip with the kids. You can enjoy lots of other activities in the area, such as kayaking, paddle boarding, canoeing, golfing, fishing, horse riding, cycling, walking. Lots of local fetes and festival take place in the neighbouring villages during the summer months. But our favourite activity is swimming in the river from our very own secluded pebbled beach, enjoying quiet moments, sunsets and nature. Our nearest airports are Biarritz, Pau and Lourdes (all within 1h drive) and or nearest train stations are Puyoo (15 min drive) and Orthez (25 min drive). Bordeaux and Toulouse are within 2.5 hrs drive and easy to reach via the A63 and A64 motorways. Take Exit 7 off the A64 motorway and take direction Sauveterre de Bearn. Access to the river is from our own property but the beach access is public (in France). Occasionally, there may be other people using the river beach but it is not often. Most times, the beach is completely private. Please be aware that you may share the courtyard with other guests if Grange de la riviere is booked at the same time.
