Tudor Oak is a luxurious, contemporary, Douglas fir-clad shepherd’s hut with its own wood-fired, spring water hot tub set in an idyllic Cotswold location, with uninterrupted views down the Painswick Valley. Inside nothing has been spared to create the ultimate in luxury glamping, from the king-size bed and ensuite shower room to the spacious, shaker-style kitchen-dining area. Enjoy the incredible views, sunsets and sunrises while relaxing in bed or in the hot tub. Please note that additional guests above the maximum capacity are not permitted to stay overnight. A set of wide steps lead up to Tudor Oak’s double doors, which open into the stunning, extra-wide, open-plan kitchen-dining-sleeping area. The interior is clad in light oak shaker-style wood panelling with engineered oak flooring, creating a contemporary, Scandi-feel to this beautiful retreat. The bedroom features a king-size bed on a raised platform, which can be accessed from both sides via concealed steps. Lie in bed and enjoy the tranquillity and the unrivalled views. A shelf with LED candles runs above the windows, providing a convenient spot to keep personal items. There is a double power point beside the bed and underneath is storage space for luggage and shoes. The dining area has a solid wood table that slides out from under the bed, with a chair to one side and a bench seat to the other. The very well-appointed kitchenette features a dual ring induction hob, combi microwave, butler sink with running hot and cold water, a fridge with a freezer compartment and worktop space to prepare meals. A latched door opens to a very well-appointed shower room with a full-size cubicle shower, toilet, wash basin with vanity unit and mirror and a heated towel rail. Tudor Oak is in a secluded area of the owner’s beautiful gardens. Follow a trail across the lawn to the side of the Lodge, past raised beds full of flowers to a gravel path that winds through a wild flower meadow to this stunning retreat. The hut has a wide patio with an enticing, wood-clad and wood-fired hot tub set to one side under an old walnut tree. Also provided for guests on the patio is a firepit, a BBQ, two armchairs and two sun loungers. For most of the year, you can relax in the hot tub enjoying the magical experience of the sun rise and sunset, and the stunning red skies over the Painswick Valley - it's a very therapeutic experience and will leave you with very special memories. The heart of the village of Painswick, known as the Queen of the Cotswolds for its beautiful Grade II listed buildings, is only 1.5 miles away, while Painswick Rococo Gardens is just 1.5 miles across the valley. The two long distance paths (LDPs) are on the doorstep: the Wysis Way is at the end of the drive and the Cotswold Way passes through Painswick, making this an ideal spot for walkers. Keen cyclists are welcome to bring their bikes too, with covered storage available for bikes. The hut is in easy driving distance of Stroud Farmers’ Market, Miserden, Gloucester Cathedral and Cirencester – the Capital of the Cotswolds. By Train: the nearest train station is Stroud (5 miles) which has a regular service to London Paddington (1.5 hours). Taxis: AA Taxis Stroud Walks (Website hidden by Airbnb) is a resourceful website for local walks. Painswick Beacon has spectacular views over the Severn Vale. Turn left at the top of the drive and continue up to the A46 and cross over. Take the first turning on the right and park near the golf club, and then walk up the hill past the old quarry on your right. Cross over the lane and walk up to the small obelisk at the top. If you wish to continue further keep walking along the Beacon on the Cotswold Way towards the north, you could take refreshment at the Royal William. Cross over the A46 and walk down the lane signposted Sheepscombe. Keep right, down the lane, up the hill eventually you will come to Trench Hill, which is directly above Painswick Lodge. Turn down the hill and you will find the gates in front of you. A walk through the woods towards Sheepscombe - the long route is to cross over the lane up the hill and turn left and keep right towards Cranham. Enter the track to the woods from the lane where there is evidence of cars parking on the verge. Once you are in the woods turn right and keep to the lower track it will give you great views of the valley. Keep heading towards Sheepscombe, you will appear on the common, take the track down the hill on your right, you should appear very close to the Butchers Arms. The shorter version of this walk is to walk up the lane and follow the foot path just above the lane beside Trench Hill. This will take you into the woods and head towards Sheepscombe. • Breakfast hamper: On booking, please advise if you would like a complimentary breakfast hamper. This usually contains milk, bread, butter, eggs, and bacon, but can be changed to suit your dietary requirements. The hut has resident tea, coffee (instant and fresh), olive oil and balsamic vinegar. • The hot tub at Tudor Oak is wood-fired and takes approximately 2 hours to heat up. If guests provide their arrival time on booking, the owners will endeavour to have the hot tub lit and ready for use on arrival. • A one-night supply of logs for the hot tub and firepit is provided. Extra, kiln-dried, Forest Stewardship Council (FSC)-certified wood can be purchased from the owner for £6 per box. The wood is provided in a recyclable cardboard box (rather than the plastic netting used by supermarkets/garden centres). • The owners have three, friendly dogs who may come out to greet you when you park. • WiFi is available in the garden area but not in the shepherd's hut. There is good 4G cover.
