Bothan Beag is a cosy one bedroomed cottage located at the centre of Nethy Bridge in the heart of the Cairngorm National Park. The cottage is ideally suited for two guests, however the double sofa bed in the living room is comfortable and suitable for a further two people should you wish. The area is popular with walkers, skiers, cyclists, and bird watchers. There are a vast array of other activities for outdoor enthusiasts. There are many whisky distilleries nearby offering tours and tastings. The single story cottage dates back to the 1860s. However, during 2018 it was stripped back to the original walls and completely refurbished. The accommodation on offer comprises a spacious living area with sofa bed and occasional chair, fully fitted kitchen, comfortable bedroom with kingsized bed, and bathroom with shower. Outside, the cottage has a secluded patio and enclosed garden area at the rear of the property. Guests can also enjoy sitting by the riverside within the main garden - the River Nethy and the Nethy Bridge both form part of the boundaries. Guests have access to a dedicated enclosed garden and patio area as well as access down to the River Nethy within the property boundaries. Off road parking is adjacent to the cottage. We have an outside tap and hose for washing down bikes/motorbikes. A bicycle shelter is provided for our guests to make use of. Our family live in the double story house on site so will be available should you have any questions or problems during your stay. Nethy Bridge is a popular village in the heart of the Cairngorm National Park. Bothan Beag is ideally located centrally in the village with all local amenities just a minute or two away on foot. Nethy House Cafe and Rooms is directly opposite serving delicious food and drinks during the day. The Nethybridge Hotel is also adjacent to the property and serves a full range of drinks as well as lunches and evening meals. On the other side of the bridge is a well stocked Spar Grocery shop and just across the road you will find Balliefurth Farm Shop offering a wide range of fresh meats, vegetables and other luxury treats. A vast network of paths suitable for all abilities can be reached within minutes by walking or cycling from Bothan Beag. Nethy Bridge also provides the perfect base for accessing a huge range of other outdoor activities ranging from hillwalking to birdwatching, clay pigeon shooting to pony trekking. Or perhaps you would prefer something more adventurous such as kayaking or canyoning, quad biking or zip lining. Within 30 minutes drive you can test your skills at the Glenlivet Mountain Bike Trail centre and within an hour, Laggan Wolftrax Mountain Bike Trails. For those wanting to head off for a days skiing the Lecht Ski Centre or Cairngorm Mountain are approximately half and hours drive. The nearest bus stops are less than a two minute walk with local bus services which travel South to Aviemore and North to Grantown on Spey. A number of national bus routes pass through Aviemore, where there is also a Train Station and local taxis. Inverness airport is approximately 60 minutes drive away with Aberdeen Airport 90 minutes. Glasgow and Edinburgh Airports are further afield at around 3 hours. We have a very friendly labrador dog and two cats that live in the main house.
