Mirage of Douro

The "Mirage of Douro" House is located in a privileged space, on a high ground with panoramic view over Douro river. It is the ideal place to disconnect from daily routine and reunite with nature, taking advantage of the river beach, the river and the forest that the region offers. The fundamental principles of the House are FREEDOM, CONNECTION WITH NATURE and DISCONNECTION OF TECHNOLOGY. Being the House isolated and integrated in a green land, it provides silence, relaxation and peace. The "Mirage of Douro" House has been in existence for a few hundred years, having been one of the first houses on the Douro margin. Initially, the House consisted only of four massive local stone walls, having recently been restored and expanded. It then received a structure in natural wood and a glass front that provides, in all divisions, a panoramic view over the Douro River. "Mirage of Douro" has 3 floors, the ground floor being the cooking and dining area, the 1st floor a living space, with the possibility of a double bed and an open space bathroom, with shower. The top floor has entrance from the outside, being a room that provides more privacy, with double bed and sanitary installation in open space. Any space in the House and the surrounding land is accessible. We will always be contactable for any situation, via (Hidden by Airbnb) or via E-mail. Personally, only in exceptional cases for reasons of displacement. However, we will always welcome you at Check-in and Check-out. The river beach at Cais de Bitetos is about a 10-minute walk, and less than a 5-minute drive, where local cafés/restaurants are also located. There is the possibility of canoeing, pedal boating, jet skiing, and even small boat routes. Through these means of transport it is possible to visit the mythical "Ilha dos Amores", suitable for picnics, short walks or sunbathing, isolated from civilization. From the city of Alpendurada e Matos to the House it is about 10 minutes by car, where there are supermarkets, pharmacies, among other common services. From Porto, it is about 50 km; 1 hour drive via the A4 motorway or the N108 national road. There is also the possibility of going by transport, via the Transdev bus, being about 1 hour.
