Take a scenic drive to the Scenic Rim's many hiking trails, dams, wineries & eateries. Willmann House, built in 1907 on a farm in Wolffdene, had been in the same family since 1910 until it's relocation to Laravale in 2019. Since then it has been thoughtfully renovated in an eclectic & colourful farmhouse style, so typical of Queenslander homes. Laravale is the gateway to picturesque areas of the Scenic Rim including Christmas Creek & Lamington National Park, Kooralbyn, Rathdowney & Mt Barney, and Palen Creek. Wyaralong Dam is a 20 minute drive. Enjoy fabulous sunsets and views to the Border Ranges from the fully flyscreened front verandah, or the gazebo. Parking onsite Please park nose or tail into the path in front of the house or towards the fence if you have multiple vehicles. This allows easy parking for 6-8 cars. Please share these details with your fellow guests. Access to the house is via several stairs Willmann House sleeps up to 9 adults in shared rooms - 2 original bedrooms and 2 sleepouts. All bedrooms have ceiling/wall fans and reverse cycle air conditioning. Typical of old farmhouses, there is a mix of 2 double beds, 1x 3/4 (king single) and 6 single beds. All bed linen is included and your beds are made, ready for your arrival. Extra blankets are available during winter bookings. There are 2 showers & toilets, as well as a fully equipped laundry. Bath towels and bath mats are included. A supply of toilet paper, shampoo/conditioner, shower gel, and sanitiser is included. The retro style kitchen is fully set up for self catering (no dishwasher though as they weren't common in the 70's) Electric stove for cooking Wood stove for heating Aldi coffee machine & a selection of coffee pods Milk warmer/frother Complimentary Tea, coffee sachets, sugar, single serve vegemite & butter, cleaning products for all bookings Complimentary Scenic Rim 4Real milk & cheese, crackers, local jam & a loaf of local baked bread upon arrival (not always available for last minute bookings) 1x fridge, 1x fridge/freezer Microwave Electric frypan Sandwich press Slow cooker Rice cooker available on request Pots & pans Wine glasses Complimentary spray oil, salt & pepper and pantry items Hand towels, tea towels and paper towel There are cleaning products in the pantry for those day to day cleanups if needed The colourful dining room, featuring a recycled timber table is adjacent to the kitchen The spacious lounge room has ceiling fans for cooling in summer and a warming pot belly stove for winter. There is free wi-fi. There is no television. The storeroom is not accessible by guests. Water to the house is all rain water, so we ask that you be conservative with your water usage during your stay. The kitchen cold tap is filtered for your convenience. The BBQ area is in the gazebo for outdoor dining. A gas pizza oven is also available upon request. Guests have exclusive access of the house, however from time to time there are other activities held at The Old Laravale School. This includes meetings/activities & sewing classes in the school building. The Scenic Rim Astronomy Assoc meets here twice a month on Saturday evenings. If their meeting coincides with your visit, you might be able to pop down and see the stars and planets through the telescopes. Bookings are essential for this, so please let us know if you'd like to have a look. With horses and cows as your closest neighbours, and sweeping views across paddocks to the Border Ranges, you'll feel a world away from your responsibilities even though you're only an hour away from Brisbane. You will need your own car to stay at Laravale as there is no public transport. There is ample parking in front of the house. We live in the same property, and I would love to meet you upon arrival. After that I will leave you to enjoy your stay, and am only a phone call away should you need me. Laravale is a rural farming area, just 15km south of Beaudesert. The Old Laravale School, set on 2.5 acres, is now privately owned after it's life as a State School in ended in 2012. We live in a 120 year old relocated worker's cottage on the other side of the former school building. Willmann House is nestled on the top side of the school building, on what was formerly the tennis court. Tamrookum Store is just around the corner, a 3 minute drive, for emergency supplies, fuel and takeaways. If you are needing a morning coffee, a short trip into Bean To? Cafe in Beaudesert will satisfy your caffeine cravings. Or if you'd like coffee with a Saturday scenic car trip, head up Christmas Creek Road to Christmas Creek Cabins on the edge of Lamington National Park. There are regular weekend markets close by at Kooralbyn, Rathdowney & Beaudesert. Beaudesert offers several local cafes, pubs, boutique shops and supermarkets for groceries and other provisions during your stay. Laravale is the gateway to Christmas Creek, part of Lamington National Park, Kooralbyn, Rathdowney, Palen Creek & Mt Barney. Wyaralong Dam is just 20 minutes drive. There is no public transport.
