Cosy Country Cottage on a Sunny Hill

Kikorangi Country Cottage sits on the top of a sunny hill on a lifestyle block, with stunning rural views out to the ocean and across New Plymouth. Offering a modern, cosy and comfortable stay in a peaceful, tranquil private space. Only a few minute's drive from the centre of New Plymouth, 30 minutes away from Egmont National Park, 9 minutes to Back Beach, 8 minutes to Ngāmotu Beach, and the local Backyard Café is just 4 minutes away. Kikorangi Country Cottage is fairly new. It has 2 bedrooms (2 queen beds, max. 4 people), a bathroom, and an open-plan kitchen/lounge area. A large private deck space is open to the views that stretch all the way down to the coast. The main bedroom has a cosy window seat where you can relax in the serenity of the setting sun. The trundle bed/day bed in the lounge can accommodate 1 additional person for a short stay (max 2; make a request to allow max of 6 for a short stay, but not recommended). When you book for 2 guests, please inform us if you will use two bedrooms. We change and provide clean bed sheets and towels after each checkout; however, the bedding for the trundler bed in the lounge, will only be provided/changed for a guest group of 5 (or 6), or on request at booking. You will enjoy access to the entire cottage on the hill. Enter the entrance gate at the bottom of the property, and drive up to the top of the hill along the driveway. The stairs lead up to the deck and the front sliding door of the cottage. While the cottage, deck and grass platform in front provide a comfortable space to enjoy, access to some outside rear parts and the garage is restricted for the sake of guests' safety as these are works in progress. We are a family living on this beautiful spot on a lifestyle block in Taranaki. Our place best caters to couples, small family, people who appreciate the quiet, peaceful rural setting; the open space; the crisp night skies; the stunning distant sea views on sunny days; and yet so close to the city. We respect our guests' privacy while enjoying ours. However, we are available down at the main house whenever necessary. We do go about maintaining the vegetable gardens and trees around the property, so please feel free to come over for a chat. Our property is within a rural area on the lower northern slopes of Mt Taranaki. This provides easy access to parts of the mountain, as well as to nearby coastal areas. Pukeiti Botanical Gardens is a 20-minute/16km drive over the Ranges, and the coastal town of Oakura is a 10-minute drive away. You will need your own vehicle to get around as the cottage is just beyond city limits. It's a short 6-minute drive to Spotswood Countdown, and a quick 12-minute drive into the city. We are just 4km from Surf Highway 45, and Westown Golf Club is 10 minutes away. All guests must be COVID-19 vaccinated unless medically exempt, and we reserve the right to require proof. To reduce the environmental impact to our land and chemical discharge to our septic system, we do not provide a washing machine at our cottage. There is a 24/7 self-service Laundromat at 172b South Road, close to the Countdown supermarket, just a 5-minute drive away from our cottage.
