Each island has its own character. While Ano Koufonisi is full of life with hotels, restaurants and bars, Kato Koufonisi is the loner's Paradise, a place where you can meditate away from it all. It has less than 10 houses which are inhabited only by their residents and can be reached by shuttle boat from Ano Koufonisi. The House was first built in the year of 1865, when Koufonisia islands offered shelter to smugglers and pirates due to its many caves and secret sea creeks. Recently, it has been fully restored and transformed into a comfortable accomodation for travelers who seek a secluded quiet getaway. It lies just a couple of minutes away from the small local port “Panagia” and opposite to the chapel of Virgin Mary. The guests can enjoy a location of natural beauty, and take note of the game between light and dark especially during sunset. Amazing views in all directions. The premises can accommodate 2 guests. It consists of one bedroom with double bed, a kitchen which is equipped with a fridge and gas hobs and a convenient bathroom. The new mattress and the natural feather pillows will guarantee your ultimate comfort and relaxation during your stay. A ceiling fan is used for the hot summer days. A flat screen TV is also available for your comfort. The Harpist's Stone House at Kato Koufonisi is eco friendly, and makes use of only natural resources. It is powered by solar panels for energy and hot water and receives water from a tank, which is filled with rainwater. You should be prepared to use electric power and water in moderation. The water is only for the daily routine and the presence of a water gauge reminds you to have a conscious consumption. Please expect that due to the off-grid nature of the island there is no landline service, only 4G coverage. A local tavern (the only one on the island) serves the visitors who choose to spend a day discovering the natural beauty of a tranquil place and its crystal clear blue-green waters. Groceries can be obtained from a variety of stores in Ano Koufonisi within 15 minutes' reach by shuttle boat. It is recommended that guests arrive before sundown in order to settle down properly.
