Lakeside
We invite you to our elegant lakeside home, where you can kayak right from the garden! Double Locks is a large 6-bedroomed house with 5 bathrooms, a well-equipped kitchen and spacious living/dining room. The garden makes our home truly amazing, with its wonderful view of peaceful Huelgoat Lake, and steps down to our own jetty. Here we have two kayaks and a boat you're welcome to use at your own risk. Huelgoat is a magical town, in an area of great beauty, with something for everyone. Three of the four double bedrooms have en suite facilities, the other has a lake view. One of the doubles has a foldout single bed. The single room has a lake view, and a small child's fold-out bed. The twin room is large, and has two adult single beds and one full length child's bed. There are two family bathrooms with shower and bath, both overlooking the lake. The kitchen is fully equipped with a 5-ring gas hob, oven, dishwasher, washing machine, fridge, freezer, kettle, cafetière, plenty of pots, pans, plates, mugs, glasses, etc, and a few bits in the larder (tea, coffee, sugar, oil, vinegar, etc). The dining table overlooks the lake for a truly relaxing breakfast. The living room has a large screen TV, a Wii, books, games, DVDS etc and an apple TV. The garden has seating areas and a covered smoking area – it's the perfect place to chill out. The lake is a wildlife haven (no motorised boats allowed) so lots of nature to be spotted if you keep your eyes and ears open. Our entire home and garden is yours to enjoy, no-one else will be in the space. We do not live on the property but are happy to answer any questions you may have before your stay. Viv, our lovely caretaker, lives nearby and can answer queries when you get there, and deal with any problems. We have a Guest Manual with helpful info about our home and the local area. We will send instructions to check in one week before your stay. The area is perfect for walking, cycling, hiking, sightseeing or just chilling out and enjoying its natural beauty. Huelgoat is a quaint old market town on a heart-shaped lake with a weir and lovely water mill. It has a variety of shops, restaurants, cafés, etc, and a market every Thursday. Beside the mill is a path through the eccentric boulders of 'Le Chaos De Rochers' into an enchanted forest with many curiosities – the natural cave 'Groote du Diable', an outdoor theatre, a mushroom-shaped rock formation 'Le Champignon', and the 'Roche Tremblante' – a 137-ton boulder that you can easily rock. We are in the 125,000 hectare Parc Naturel Régional d'Armorique, which has miles of walks and cycle paths through gorgeous scenery. We are centrally located in Brittany so countless different coastlines, interesting ports, historic towns and ancient monuments are all within an hour's drive. We have a book on site with a map of Huelgoat village and some excellent recommended walks in the local area.
