Set on the banks of the Ashuelot River this New England charmer has covered bridge views and 300’ of river front. Put a kayak in, fish from the property or soak in a clawfoot tub. A rail/trail offering cc skiing, mountain biking, running & hiking and connects to the largest state park in NH begins at the front door. The house is freshly painted inside and out and thoroughly cleaned between stays. Guests must review and agree to Covid 19 guidelines detailed in "The space" prior to booking. This renovated 1780's farmhouse exudes charm. Included are new luxurious sheets, comforters and towels. The kitchen has plenty of cookware. There are three bedrooms, one queen, one full, and one with two twin beds. The house has beautifully refinished wood floors. The walls are original - refinished horsehair plaster. In keeping with a house of this age nothing is perfectly square. The steps to the 2nd floor bedrooms are steeper than most. Children love them. The house is cozy in both summer and winter with zoned heating and ample air conditioning. The internet speed is 1 gig wired with an average wireless speed of 200 mbps evenly distributed throughout the house. As I wrote this description a bald eagle flew low over the covered bridge and landed close by on a tree. Great Blue Heron's, Kingfishers, Mergansers with annual broods, Wood Ducks, and many other birds are commonly seen. Please Note: This is an old house! Nothing is square! The house and landscaping is not designed for people with physical disabilities. I wish I could make it so. The house is conveniently located between Brattleboro, Vermont, Keene, New Hampshire, and Greenfield, Massachusetts. Northfield Mount Hermon is less than 12 miles away. We want our guests to have a great time and feel as or more comfortable than they do at home. A sanitizing dishwasher and a fancy five burner convection oven/range are new upgrades Covid 19 and Pet Policies: Covid 19 If you have recently been to a crowded beach, a crowded outdoor rally or have spent substantial time in crowded areas that you have no control over, or have not been vaccinated please do not book our home. **Pets** Please do not arrive with pets before reading the following information. Guests that arrive with pets without prior approval may be denied access or asked to leave. The house has beautiful mid 1700's wide board pine floors. Pets and owners that can not be controlled and are likely to race around the house, play tug of war and risk damaging the house and floors are not allowed. Please let us know the breed, age, and temperament of your dog/pet. The house is extensively cleaned between visits. There will be no indication that pets have been in the house when you arrive. Dogs/Pets that are accepted must be: Clean and brushed before arrival with nails trimmed. Dogs are not allowed on the furniture. We may ask for an additional damage deposit based on the size, weight, and age of your pet. A large lint brush & pet towel will be left for travelers with pets. Your deposit will not be refunded if extensive cleaning is required after your stay. Thankfully we have never had to withhold a deposit for any reason. There are no kayaks and life preservers available. Guests have private access to the house. The yard along the river can be used for fishing, setting in a kayak, croquet, barbecue, etc. The laundry area has private access and is shared with the hosts. It is the converted barn in the background of the photo on the main page. Ashuelot is a sleepy little town. The house is across the street from the Ashuelot Public Library and is between the Ashuelot Post Office and the Ashuelot Covered Bridge. There are wonderful restaurants and co-ops close by in Keene, NH and Brattleboro Vermont. A full binder of menu's and area attractions is in the house. We suggest guests stock up on groceries prior to arrival. There is no public transportation. Car rental is available in both Brattleboro Vermont and Keene New Hampshire. A rail trail begins immediately out the front door and across the covered bridge and runs from Ashuelot to Walpole New Hampshire to the North. The property abuts the Ashuelot covered bridge and is connected to an extensive network of biking, hiking, and cross country skiing trails. The largest state park in NH is minutes away. Bring goggles for swimming. The magic of the underwater lily gardens are impossible to describe. The fireplaces are not safe and can not be used.
