Stay Golden Double Cabana with Garden View

Stay Golden is a small, family-run boutique hotel with pool at the beach of Arugam Bay. Your wooden cabana is cosy and clean. It’s designed and furnished with love to make you feel comfortable during your stay. The cabana has a king-size bed with mosquito net, shelves, a cupboard, a desk, a ceiling fan and air-conditioning. The terrace offers chairs, a table and a hammock. Your modern, private en-suite bathroom has hot water. When you step out of your cabana, you will feel sand under your feet. Our hotel is located at an empty and wide beach, only some walking minutes away from Arugam Bay centre. We offer 5 cabanas and 2 double rooms. In our garden, we run a modern restaurant with café. It’s the perfect place for you to relax, and enjoy good food. We serve healthy, fresh and delicious local food from morning to evening. There is a variety of options for vegetarians and vegans, as well. All day long, the pool with children area invites you to cool off. Sun beds and shade are provided free of charge for you. You have access to free and fast Wifi all over the property. We regularly offer yoga classes at our rooftop yoga shala overlooking the ocean. Furthermore, you can book surfing lessons or rent a surf board with us. A special highlight are the safaris to the Kumana National park and to the Pottuvil lagoon. We are happy to organize them for you. We strive for sustainable eco-tourism. The hot water is produced by solar panels; we consciously reduce our plastic consumption, separate our bio waste and offer bicycles free of charge. Additionally, mineral water is available for you to refill. You will have access to the whole hotel property. Your room is private and only accessible for you during your stay. We provide a key to lock it. Parking is available on the property or next to the hotel on the street. Our hotel is located in a more quiet residential area, off the typical busyness of Sri Lanka's streets. To Arugam Bay centre, it is only a couple of minutes by foot. We are Rihan and Angie, your hosts. We are normally around at the hotel all day long. When you have any questions about what to do around, your travel plans, or just want to chat, we are here for you. Rihan was born in Pottuvil as the son of a local fisherman. In 2014, he started with Stay Golden, hosting people in simple beach cabanas. In 2017, Angie joined. She is Rihan’s wife, originally from Germany and fell in love with him and the country. In 2019, we moved Stay Golden to our own land off the beaten track from busy Arugam Bay town. Arugam Bay is famous for its surf (main season is from April to October). You walk ten minutes at the beach until you reach the main Surf spot (Main Point). Turning South, standing at Stay Golden’s beach, you can spot Crocodile’s Rock and Elephant Rock at the horizon. The beach seems endless on that side of the bay. It’s beautiful. The hotel is located in the still more undiscovered area of Arugam Bay, perfect for everyone seeking peace. Nature mixed with simple, local residential houses surround us. Though, it’s just a ten minutes walk to the city centre of Arugam Bay or a couple of minutes bike ride (bikes are free of charge for guests). There, you find many shops and restaurants. We also rent scooters. There is so much to discover in Arugam Bay! Arugam Bay itself is normally a small, drowsy fishing village on the East Coast of Sri Lanka. During the summer- and surfing-months from April to October, the village is taken over by tourism. Cafés, Restaurants, Hotels and Shops are a welcome change to a day at the beach or in nature. In the 'slow-season' during the remaining months, nature especially is the highlight. The Kumana Nationalpark is on its best behaviour, full of green and water. Arugam Bay is worth a visit all year long! For trips to the surf spots and beaches in the area, the easiest way to travel is by tuk tuk. If you would like to explore on your own, we rent scooters. The bicycles are free of charge for you. We're happy to organize a Kumana National Park Safari, a boat tour on the Pottuvil lagoon, or surf lessons for you. The main surfing season starts in April and goes until October. During the other months, surfing is - in general - possible, but depends highly on the respective conditions.
