Wood Cottage is a three bedroom detached timber heritage listed cottage surrounded by beautiful trees. Self contained for everything you need for a family or group get away. The heritage listed timber cottage, Wood Cottage, is named after the forestry workers that resided on site many years ago. Lewana was created back in the 1890's and has a rich history. Fire wood is provided in cooler months - a swimming dam available in summer. Lewana Cottages offers shared BBQ's and home made produce for sale including free range eggs from our chickens, honey and preserves, (subject to availability). Reception is located at the Homestead on the 100 acre property. Mark & Jayne reside on site. Lewana is c. 3 hours drive from Perth. An ideal getaway location for those seeking adventure or peace and quiet. Only meters to the Blackwood River, 14Km to the Bibbulmun Track and 27Km to the Munda Biddi Trail. Parking is available on the property. The cottage is one of six heritage listed cottages on the property that forms Lewana Cottages. The cottages and other timber buildings are heritage listed by the Heritage Council of Western Australia in their highest category. Lewana is associated with a wide range of land uses, such as pastoralism dairying, forestry and recreational tourism that reflects the changing patterns of usage that have occurred in many areas of the southwest since European settlement. The property is one of only four former forestry settlements converted to a recreation camp in the 1970s before being sold into private ownership. Lewana is an unusually intact former forestry settlement, and so far as is known, the only such place with an arboretum and extensive plantings of more than 50 varieties of exotic and indigenous trees.
