Assemblage Boutique Art Bed & Breakfast offers a unique experience in New Town Tasmania, 4 km from the Hobart CBD. The New Town Post and Telegraph Office, built in 1891 is a wonderful Federation style building, a local land mark and meeting place that houses Assemblage and the Dispatch Cafe. This unique place is overflowing with hand-made objects and original art works, clever ideas, great food and a passion for a creative life. Located on New Town Road, there is public transport at the door. The four light-filled upstairs rooms are stylish while being reminiscent of Parisian artists' garrets. Creative workshops and art retreats are held onsite and guests can be connected to local artists, workshops, exhibitions and events. As your host I am available by telephone. If I do not answer immediately I will return your call asap. New Town is a very old inner city suburb with interesting cottages and grand old buildings. New Town Road is a continuation of Elizabeth Street ,which begins in Hobart City. Runnymede National Trust property is nearby and the Queens Orphan Schools is now the Kick Start Arts Centre. The Church Antiques is adjacent to Assemblage. Cornelian Bay with its quaint colourful boat sheds is a short leisurely walk, where there are walking tracks around the shore of the Derwent River. The Elizabeth Street Mall is five minutes by car, fifteen minutes by bus or a leisurely 30 minute walk from Assemblage. The bike track, which is a short distance away takes a scenic route around the Queen's Domain and Botanical Gardens to the city. Heading North, the bike track will take you to MONA. Bicycles are available for guests to use.
