Our Victorian home, built in 1896, is located in historic, Colonial town of Fredericksburg, VA, just a few blocks from the shops and restaurants for which Fredericksburg is famous. The house is located a mile from the train station, within the historic Civil War battle field, a five minute walk to the University of Mary Washington and the Kenmore Historic Plantation, where George Washington’s sister lived, is just around the corner. This Victorian house has a main guest bedroom for couples with queen sized bed and sitting area. Guests have a private full bathroom down the hallway on the same floor. If you're traveling with a child, there's a blow-up mattress we can provide. There's a private living room for guests on the first floor, plus access to the front porch and back garden for your relaxation. You also have access to a shared kitchen, available for storing a little food in the frig and making yourself coffee or tea. We have free WiFi and are within walking distance of most sites worth seeing in Fredericksburg. This home is best suited for people who can get up and down stairs, and if you are traveling as a family, having children over 6 years old. Free parking is available on the street. This is a non-smoking house and we don't accept pets. Guests have access to their room(s), their private bathroom, kitchen and our front, Victorian sitting room, as well as our wrap-around front porch. We're home in the evenings to answer questions and help our guests feel comfortable. We're within walking distance of a dozen good restaurants, pubs, museums and more. And we're happy to make recommendations. We're located in the historic district of Fredericksburg, sitting on property that once belonged to the Kenmore Plantation and just up the street from where the Union Army crossed the Rappahannock River to attack General Robert E. Lee’s forces. This city is George Washington's boyhood home. It's a few blocks to restaurants, pubs, museums, etc. Just 10 blocks away is the city's train station (VRE and Amtrak), where one can catch the train north to DC or south to Richmond. Fredericksburg also has a historic tour trolley people can use to get from one historic site to another. The city is very bike and walking friendly and there historic walking tours during the summer months. We're just a five minute walk from the University of Mary Washington. Brian and Bethany have both received the Covid vaccine. We are following Airbnb's protocols for cleaning and sanitizing. If you've been vaccinated, you are welcome in our home, and can let us know your preferences about mask wearing and/or social distancing in the house. We will follow your preferences. If not vaccinated, we cannot host you at this time. Our family has underlying health conditions and work in vulnerable populations with children. We often foster kittens for a local animal rescue program. You are welcomed to interact with them as well. .
