The Elms is located close to the Christchurch airport, and offers bed & breakfast and fully self-contained accommodation in the tranquil countryside just beyond the City’s northwest urban boundary. Originally settled by John Stanley, one of Christchurch’s earliest English settlers, the many elm trees planted by him over 150 years ago now soar more than 30 metres high. Rose Cottage at The Elms is a charming detached one queen bedroom Self contained cottage set in almost five acres of extensive park-like grounds and rhododendron gardens, it comprises a fully equipped kitchen, a living/dining area and a bathroom with a shower and a bath, all very comfortably furnished to a high standard, In addition the cottage has it's own outdoor sitting area so guests are able to enjoy the Rose Garden in the summer. In addition to the cottage we have the annexe available it is adjacent but separate from the cottage and comprises a king size or twin beds, with a separate bathroom with a show and a loo. Rose cottage can be booked on its own, and if extra accommodation for another couple is required then the Annexe bedroom and bathroom can be booked as an addition. The Annexe cannot be booked on its own and is unsuitable for children under 10 years of age. Guests at the property have use of a grass tennis court in the summer, and a heated outdoor swimming pool which is available from late October until the end of March.The property is approximately 5 minutes away from the Christchurch International Airport and Antarctic Centre, and is nearby the Russley, Harewood and Clearwater golf courses. Close also to the University of Canterbury and a quick 15 minute drive to the the centre of Christchurch city, the Arts Centre and Botanic Gardens . Rose cottage is on the major arterial route to all Canterbury's skifields which are only an hour and a half away, so it's a perfect base for exploring and enjoying all that Canterbury skiing has to offer. Guests have full access to extensive gardens, pick up and drop off at Airport with prior arrangement. Full meal service is available by arrangement and at an additional cost seasonal dishes are a speciality. Breakfast basket is available $25.00 per head.
