Peaceful Country Retreat

Nestled among the trees of a quiet street in the sleepy township of Whitecliffs, with only the sound of the birds and the rushing river, Riverstone Cottage is the perfect place to get away from it all. Located just an hour from central Christchurch, and yet you feel like you are a world away. This special spot is at the edge of the town, just a few steps away from the lovely Waikirikiri (Selwyn) River. Ideal for couples, this is our family Bach, and as such we keep it simple. Note there's no Wifi or TV so you can be offline for a while! (DVD player and plenty of DVD's though). In winter, a perfect base for skiers just 30 minutes to the Mt Hutt Rd; any other time it’s an ideal spot to relax and unwind or explore this beautiful part of the country being just a short drive from the Rakaia River, Lake Coleridge, Methven, Springfield and Oxford townships. There’s something for everyone whether you like biking, walking, fishing, golf, jet boats etc, or simply sitting back with a book! Whitecliffs itself has a great playground, a domain and the river with multiple swimming holes to keep you entertained close to home. The cottage is well set up with a generous living space, 2 cosy bedrooms and drawers for storage. As it's a Bach we generally don't provide linen but please let us know at time of inquiry if you need this and we can make arrangements. Heat pump and bedroom heaters provides excellent heating/cooling plus the fire for that extra bit of warmth and atmosphere. French doors open onto a big deck perfectly situated for watching the sun setting behind the Lady Barker Ranges. Please note the bunk room is tight and the bunks are quite small; they are designed for children but most adults can manage in the bottom bunks. (weight limit 65 kg for top bunks). There is a trundle bed too for taller teens/ adults if needed. The queen bedroom has plenty of room. Special conditions: Top bunks not suitable for adults (max weight 65 kg). Please note there is no Wifi. Cell phone reception is variable.
