Oaklane Retreat, near Wilsons Promontory National Park, is a stylish and romantic "getaway" to unwind and rejuvenate. You are surrounded by lovely, extensive gardens in a peaceful country setting. This charming holiday cottage can accommodate a maximum of 4 guests, including children, and is placed on a 14 acre property on a no-through road, featuring total privacy, peace, relaxation and spacious lawns to play and to enjoy the great outdoors. Guests are invited to explore the delightful gardens or to watch the birds and enjoy their songs. You are welcome to sample some organically grown fruit from the orchard or pick fresh herbs in the vegetable garden to add to your dinner. Only a few minutes drive takes you to the town centre of Foster, where you find cafes, bakeries and a great variety of shops, services and facilities for all your shopping needs and much more. Foster and surrounding villages invite you to wineries, art galleries, picnic spots, museums, Farmers Markets and community events. There is something delightful to discover for everyone. Oaklane Retreat is also the perfect base for exploring the beautiful unspoilt beaches, lush rainforests and rolling hills of South Gippsland: SPECTACULAR WILSONS PROMONTORY NATIONAL PARK provides the ultimate experience of nature in all its beauty and variety, from breathtaking beaches and outlooks to bushtracks of various lengths and degree of difficulty. It is a bushwalker's paradise, offering enjoyment for all age groups and levels of fitness. Another superb National Park is the Tarra-Bulga NP, hidden in the Strzelecki Ranges, near Yarram. It features lush Fern Trees along cool gullies, giant Mountain Ash and ancient Myrtle Beech. Picnic spots offer a welcome rest and lookout for birds. Only a 20 min. drive takes you to Waratah Bay and Sandy Point, where you can enjoy stunning beaches for walking or swimming, safe for families and also well known by keen surfers. The Retreat can accommodate up to 4 guests and comprises: 2 bedrooms: Main bedroom with Queen size bed and 2nd bedroom with two single beds Lounge/dining room with reverse cycle airconditioner for convenient heating or cooling, 132cm LCD TV, CD and DVD player, stereo system with Bluetooth etc, books and magazines, boardgames, reading lights and leather lounges for comfort, Fully equipped kitchen with big fridge/freezer, microwave and electric stove and oven, coffee and tea varieties, coffee plunger and many little extras for self-catering, Bathroom with enclosed shower and full-size bath, hairdryer, shampoo and conditioner, Separate toilet for privacy of family members, Spacious verandah with outdoor furniture, garden lounges and gas BBQ, sliding door to lounge room, Guest carport a few steps from the entrance. ALL LINEN AND TOWELS ARE PROVIDED. Oaklane Retreat is better suited for children above 3 years of age as there is no cot provided. Oaklane Retreat is a non-smoking accommodation, but there is an ashtray provided outdoors on the verandah. Sorry, pets are not accepted. LOCAL ATTRACTIONS: Promontory Home Produce and Craft Market: at Foster Showgrounds, extremely popular, on long weekends November to Easter Farmers Market: every 3rd Saturday of the month Stockyard Gallery and Shop: lovely art gallery with changing exhibitions and well stocked Art & Craft Shop, where you find beautiful gifts and artwork mainly made by local artists. Pearl Park: Magnificent park next to Stockyard Creek, BBQ facilities, benches and tables, popular for picnics Information Centre: open 7 days a week from 9am to 5pm, Public Library with internet access in the same building Historic Museum: looking back into Foster's gold mining and pioneering history Port Franklin: a pretty fishing village with lovely boardwalk and picnic facilities, fresh fish available Agnes Falls: in the scenic Toora Hills, past lookout, easy walk to impressive waterfalls, new picnic facilities and shelter Walkerville and Cape Liptrap also offer breathtaking ocean scenery and interesting historic background information, well worth visiting. For enthusiastic bike riders the Great Southern Rail Trail offers a wonderful opportunity. It stretches over 68 kilometers, from Leongatha to Welshpool, flat to gently undulating through lush dairy farmland and remnant bush and you find it 3.2 km from your doorstep. The Foster Golf Club and Restaurant is open to members and guests alike. You will find the 18 hole golf course very scenic and suitable for all golfing levels and visitors are welcome. For Windsurfers and Speedsailors alike Sandy Point has developed to a hotspot, well worth visiting. During the Christmas holidays Ameys Track Blueberry Farm is open to the public. You can buy and taste fresh blueberries and also enjoy stunning views over the Gippsland hills and across the ocean to Wilsons Promontory.
