Gibson Bridge Farm c. 1747 is an exquisite example of historic Chester County architecture. Our guests enjoy the use of an entire guest suite on 17 pristine acres just minutes from downtown West Chester with all of its restaurants, breweries, shopping and special events. The guest suite is located on the second and third floors in the original part of this home dating to 1747 and retaining much of its historic charm. The second floor space includes a bedroom, full bath with tub/shower and the sitting room/kitchenette that has a refrigerator, sink, microwave, toaster oven, coffeemaker, electric kettle and other kitchen essentials. It does not have a range or oven so cooking is limited. Coffee, tea, hot chocolate, water and a variety of snacks are provided. The couch in this room converts to a twin bed if needed. The third floor is a bedroom and full bath. You will pass the first floor living and dining rooms on your way upstairs. These rooms may be used by guests by special request but will not be used by anyone else during your stay. Your side of the house is separate from all other rooms used by the homeowner who occupies a portion of the first floor of the house. Guests are welcome to use the front porch off the first floor dining room, rear patio and lawn and are also welcome to explore the front lawn and pond area. You may be greeted by a large white standard poodle. Malcolm is very friendly but will not have access to your side of the house. In addition to Malcolm his owner Graham is usually available to greet you. He is happy to answer any questions you might have and will interact as much or as little as you desire. Gibson Bridge Farm is located just 5 minutes from West Chester Borough and West Chester University in the beautiful Brandywine Valley. The Harmony Hill Nature Area for biking and hiking and the east branch of the Brandywine Creek is a 3 minute walk from the property. Other areas of interest within a 30 minute drive include Longwood Gardens, Winterthur Museum and Gardens, Brandywine River Museum, Marsh Creek State Park, Valley Forge Park, QVC Studio Park, King of Prussia Mall, and the Amish country of Lancaster County. 35 minutes from the Philadelphia International Airport, 10 minutes to the Downingtown and Exton Amtrak stations and the R-5 line to Philadelphia. 15 minutes to the PA Turnpike. People were much smaller in the 1700's so there are low ceilings! Guests over 6 feet tall may not be comfortable in the third floor bedroom and bath. The ceilings are a bit higher on the 2nd floor. There is an electric chair lift to the second floor only. This space does not have a full kitchen. Cooking is limited. There is a microwave, toaster oven and hot plate. Refrigerator space is also limited.
