Please remember that you will be renting an apartment, not a hotel room. There is no daily cleaning service although we provide equipment & supplies. When you check in, you will find things neat, clean & orderly. When you check out, we expect to find things more or less the same. An old-fashioned, late Victorian house, the apartment has a living room, a central gathering room, a dining room, a separate eat-in kitchen, two bedrooms & a bathroom. My wife Marie & I live in the house next door, and the back yards connect. Brian is semi-retired and does most of the face-to-face hosting activity. We give our guests a maximum of privacy while remaining close by to deal with situations day or night. We have lived in this gentrifying neighborhood since 2001, among residents from a variety of ethnic, racial, religious and socio-economic backgrounds. Multi-family houses and numerous small shops, stores and restaurants make for a dynamic and lively street scene. It's not a gated community, it's a lively urban setting. Come prepared to enjoy diversity! We are about 1 mile (1 ½ km) from downtown and the campus. There is a public bus line with stops at the corner that will take you downtown and back. We have bicycles for rent at reasonable prices. Plenty of free parking on street in front of house. Possibility of one on-site parking space. Coin-op washer & drier in building. Outdoor table & chairs in fenced-in back yard. 3 city bus lines nearby. Walk to supermarket, near-by park for jogging/bicycling, Yale athletic fields, seasonal farmer's market, Déjà Brew café; natural food store/restaurant, Chinese grocery.
