Our friendly, quiet, comfortable house is professionally cleaned before your arrival. Your room's away from family bedroom, on another floor. We’re very busy & respect privacy. Pretty, quiet, woodsy room. Large workspace; fast wifi. Guests have been very happy here. Space for your clothes in closet or armoire. Room has mini-fridge, microwave, coffee maker, utensils/dishes etc., big flat-screen tv. Long-term bookings are fine; discounts automatically calculated for >1-wk (10%) or 1 mo. (25%) or longer stays. Best for full-time students/interns/professionals. Minimum stays may apply; ask about long-term possibilities. We reply quickly. We’re grateful for our excellent reviews and we care about our guests! You can sit in our enclosed porch/sunroom to eat and enjoy the birds and squirrels. (You may catch a glimpse of the rabbits!) Backyard is open to you too. You'll have a desk/workspace in your room. 2 full bathrooms light kitchen use is ok with thorough, quick clean-up (many guests find that the fridge/microwave in their room is enough; walk to supermarket-has great pre-made meals/salads/rotisserie chicken & excellent produce, international products, etc.) We're just a text away-we live here but your room is away from the main part of the house, on another floor from us, so you’ll have privacy. We're friendly arts professionals but very busy, and gone a lot. You may rarely see us if you're gone most of the time as many are. This can be a "ships passing in the night" household with little interaction if you want, or there can be some time to chat/get tips about area activities and resources--up to you. If English is not your first language I can give cheerful corrections and tips or a lesson if you want! If you don't have a car and would like to see the nearby beautiful Sands Point Preserve, or need a ride to the store, we could take you. Port Washington’s a bucolic, walkable, waterfront town. It is part of the town of North Hempstead, voted by Money magazine as one of the top 100 places to live in the U.S. *excellent, award-winning library here to work, read, or attend free cultural events. *great sunsets from the town dock - you’ll feel like you're far away from any burdens. (water taxi available for $15 tours of the harbor) *Beautiful nature preserve (Sands Point Preserve) with forest trails, gardens, and a beach to walk on. *Whole Foods store nearby, as well as the upscale Americana Shopping Center. *Need a workout? Use running track in the athletic field very close to our house, or attend live yoga at Om Sweet Om Yoga or Yoga Life (near Rite Aid). Convenient to bus stop (#23, 7-minute walk) + Long Island Railroad. (10-15-minute walk). You could park in our driveway at first but if you want to avoid having to move your car it's easier to park on our quiet street, which most guests prefer. There's a long strip of easy parking next to the school field just a few steps from our house. We sometimes host more than one guest--it has always worked out. Bedrooms and 2 shared bathrooms can be locked from the inside. We both have careers in the arts and are also both teachers. This is a real, "lived in" house-not a luxury hotel, but you will be comfortable here.
