Pool with a view and much more too!!
We have been renting out our beloved holiday home in the Dordogne since 2020 and have we have enjoyed the experience enormously, interacting with people who love our home and the Dordogne as much as we do. We are delighted that our guests have enjoyed the experience of staying in our home and have kindly all given us 5 star reviews which, we believe, reflects the quality of the property and the level of service that we offer to our guests. Our stone built barn conversion has a master bedroom with en-suite bathroom and two further bedrooms which share a bathroom and a separate WC in the other wing of the house. The large double height sitting/dining room has French doors opening onto the pool terrace and views of the valley beyond. There is a well equipped kitchen, with breakfast area, which also opens on to the pool terrace. The mezzanine floor above the kitchen has a sofa and chairs, allowing you to enjoy the views down the valley, and a desk with printer. The sitting/dining room and kitchen sit between the two bedroom wings. The pool is set in a terrace spanning the width of the rear of the house - the majority of the terrace is in full sun but there is an area under a wisteria covered roof. French doors lead from the twin bedroom and the double bedroom on to the covered terrace which is perfect for eating lunch on hot, sunny days. The garden immediately around the 11m x 5m pool is fenced but our land stretches further down the valley to the hedge at the bottom. The pool has an electric safety cover. There are six sun loungers with cushions, a table that seats six on the main terrace and another table with benches on the covered terrace. Shade on the main terrace is provided by a cantilever parasol but you can also sit on a bench in the shade of the trees further down the garden and enjoy the views from that aspect. There is a gas barbecue in the pool house, as well as various inflatable toys and lilos. The house is south facing so you will be able to enjoy the Dordogne sunshine for most of the day. Sunrise over the pine forest in the valley below is a particularly beautiful sight on a summer’s day but the swallows and house martins swooping over the pool when you are sitting on the terrace having a relaxed dinner in summer or the call of the nightingales in spring are also wonderful to enjoy. This part of the Dordogne is a joy whatever time of year you visit. From the local fetes of the Omelette a l’aillet on the first weekend of May, through the night markets of July and August where you can spend the evening eating, drinking and dancing in a beautiful village square, to the fetes des vendanges (grape harvest) of September and October - there is always something to do and see.
