It is an historical landmark, nestled on the banks of the Derwent Valley in Tynwald Park within a 10 minute walk to the High Street. A fully self contained colonial Huon Pine kitchen and dining area and wood fired heating Master bedroom includes queen size bed, writing desk and sofa. Bedroom No.2 includes a queen size four poster bed, single bed. There is sports equipment, games, books. A period bathroom with bath/shower, ideal for children Large family room including additional dining table and chairs, sunny North facing deck with BBQ facilities and outside dining furniture. Washing Facilities. New Norfolk is regarded as the country capital and only 20 minutes from MONA, Hobart's world class Museum of Old and New Art, 30 minutes to, Salamanca Markets, the Hobart water front. Travelling west there are bucolic rural settings, small townships, Mt Field National Park, Forestry, fishing, hunting, bushwalking and adventure. The township of New Norfolk represents one of the earliest towns in Tasmania, circa 1807. The 19th century early settlers relied on stunning river frontage, timber cutting and forestry, later cropping, fruit and hop farming and mental health. The 20th century was marked by industrial growth and the emergence of mining, dam building, paper making, tourism and continuing service to the mentally ill at Willow Court. This accommodation features heritage bricks, substantial timbers flooring and walls, heavy exposed beams, high ceilings, and well ventilated rooms. The rooms are heated by a fan forced wood burning heater in Kitchen / Dining room and an imposing free standing wood burning fire in the lounge / library. Today, the Oast House operates as a holiday home and Fine Wood working school. The woodworking school commenced in 2015. We offer short courses and accommodation throughout the year.
