Serene Mountain Retreat

A beautiful place for the outdoor lover or App State Mountaineer fan, come fall asleep to the sounds of a creek running past the house. Secluded & private, our mountain retreat is just a short walk to Elk Knob State Park & only ~15 minutes from downtown Boone. It's accessible year-round, though you may need all-wheel/4-wheel drive during the winter months if there is snow or freezing weather. The road is plowed, but some parts are steep & can be slippery. Our own home away from home, this 1750 square foot home is equipped with everything you will need to enjoy your stay. The main level deck wraps around three sides of the house, with a covered front porch. The kitchen is fully equipped, including dishwasher, microwave, disposal and Keurig. For outdoor cooking, there is a gas grill just outside the kitchen door. There is a large smart TV in the living room (equipped with cable and access to Netflix, Amazon Prime, etc, if you have an account for those). A queen bedroom and full bath round out this level. Upstairs, is another full bath; a king bedroom, equipped with a TV and smart DVD player & a twin bedroom with a small TV & VCR/DVD player. On the lower level, you will find a game room, well-stocked with puzzles, board & card games, a fully equipped laundry room, half bath and single car garage. There is another lovely deck off the game room. Two driveways - a U shaped, easy access loop in the front, and a steeper, long driveway down to the garage - ensure adequate parking. In winter months, only the U-shaped driveway will be plowed prior to arrival. If it snows while you are there, there are snow shovels in the garage! The area: We are close to Boone & Appalachian State University, ski resorts, fabulous restaurants, white water rafting, Tweetsie Railroad, Grandfather Mountain, West Jefferson, Blowing Rock, The Blue Ridge Parkway, lakes and parks. With the exception of a locked storage area in the garage, you have access to the full property. Please contact via AirBnB; we work but will do our best to get back to you quickly! Mailing address is Todd, but we are actually on the other side of the mountain from Todd, and outside of Boone, in Watauga County. They say a picture is worth a thousand words - we hope you'll view them! There is no public transportation out near the house. The town of Boone has a public bus system, Applcart, operated by Appalachian State University. Pets: We currently allow pets with a $75 additional cleaning fee. We are animal lovers - please help us continue to accommodate others who enjoy traveling with their pets by not allowing your pet to potty on either deck or cause damage. Please crate your dog when not present on the property, keep them off of furniture and pick up waste from the yard.
