Light-Filled House
Relax and enjoy our beautiful, clean home, filled with natural light, and with cheerful decor. It’s so cozy you won’t want to leave! You will have complete, private use of the main level of our '60s ranch-style home, including three bedrooms, two full bathrooms, living room, kitchen/dining area, and large deck. It is a 5-10 minute drive to historic downtown Frankfort, west side shopping centers, and I-64. We (the hosts) live in the downstairs part of the house. See Guest Access section below. The three bedrooms, king, queen, and twin, are beautifully decorated to make you feel welcomed and comfortable. The king master bedroom has a TV and attached full bathroom with a tub/shower. The second full bathroom serving the rest of the house also has a tub-shower. The kitchen invites you to easy meal preparation on a large, granite-top counter and island, using the the gas stove, oven, and microwave. Enjoy your meals at the island or the oak dining table. From the kitchen, open the French doors and step outside onto a large elevated private deck, making you feel like you’ve escaped into a tree house. During nice weather, the half-covered deck may be where you’ll spend much of your visit, day and night, with comfy outdoor furniture, two dining tables (one for a romantic dinner or one for a group meal), potted flowers, and quick views of many kinds of Kentucky birds. The view from the house’s ridgetop location into the adjacent wooded valley and hills beyond completes this experience, filling your senses with the great outdoors. The nearly constant gentle breeze eases the potential discomfort of hot days and insects. On cold, hot or rainy days, the two walls of windows on opposite sides of the combined kitchen, dining area, and living room let you see the natural world from inside while letting in abundant light. This spacious and comfortable living room has couches, a TV, and a table for games, puzzles, or computer work, offering quiet time or visiting time. We welcome you to our home and wish you a wonderful, memorable stay! Guests occupy the entire main floor of the house with complete privacy and private entrance. However, the hosts live downstairs (see Note below), and the garage may only be used for limited storage (e.g. bicycles) with permission of the hosts. The guest space is generally accessible. There are no interior steps and only two steps at the entrance. However, the doorways and hallways are standard width so may not be wheelchair accessible. NOTE: We (the hosts) live downstairs, but we use a separate rear entrance, and none of the interior guest space is shared with us. When we’re home, please do not feel you need to be quieter than normal. While we do enjoy meeting our guests, you decide how much interaction you would like with us. We understand that many guests prefer to have their stay to themselves, while others enjoy visiting with their hosts. Just let us know what your preference is. We are available to offer assistance whenever we're home. We feel that our arrangement provides sufficient isolation from our guests during the pandemic. We are fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Written directions to the house from I-64 are provided to guests with confirmed reservations. Public transportation is limited. Frankfort Transit provides bus service. The nearest bus stop is 0.6 miles from the house on Collins Lane near Reed Drive. The TVs do not have cable service or antennas, just Amazon Fire TV. The living room TV also has Samsung TV Plus and a BluRay/DVD player. You can use Fire TV to access the following free installed apps: Pluto TV, IMDB TV, Local Now, YouTube, Crackle, Prime Video, and Tubi. You may install additional apps, including those requiring a paid subscription if you have your own account.
