This delightful period cottage has been tastefully restored and enjoys an enviable location, only 22 yards from the water’s edge/slipway, where a colourful array of boats can be seen. There is direct access to a footpath along The Solent Way which stretches all the way to Gosport, with scenic views over the River Hamble and where many birds and other wildlife can be spotted. There are local traditional inns nearby, the nearest is about 55 yards away, or a little further discover the pub featured in Howards Way, the popular TV series of yesteryear, just a ½-mile walk away. The cottage is situated within a few miles of Fairthorne Manor, during school holidays children can spend the day playing in the massive grounds, playing games, kayaking, climbing and much more, giving you some days of your own knowing the children will be exhausted and thoroughly entertained. Inside, this super cottage boasts some historic features: the handrail for the stairs originates from The Gypsy Moth, a famous historic yacht that circumnavigated the globe. Other features include beams, part exposed brick/flint walls, wooden floors and a wood-burning stove. Outside, the enclosed lawned garden has a flower border and two levels of decking with furniture. There is also a hot tub which can be enjoyed all year round by guests, and two kayaks available to be launched from the public slipway free of charge. For those with boats, mooring can be arranged with nearby marinas, and fishing trips can also be organised upon request. An ideal retreat for couples or families wishing to explore the area: maritime Southampton and Portsmouth with Spinnaker Tower, leisure centres, museums, galleries, historic ships, designer shopping and ferries to the Isle of Wight. Also Winchester, Chichester or Salisbury with their cathedrals, excellent walking in the New Forest, Beaulieu Motor Museum, South Downs National Park, and the seaside resorts of Poole or Bournemouth are all within easy driving distance. Other ideas for family days out include a visit to Marwell Zoo, Peppa Pig World, Paultons Park, New Forest Wildlife Park. Hamble and Warsash are also close by. Shop ½ mile, pub 55 yards and restaurant 220 yards. There is a river 22 yards from property. The stairs at this property are steep and narrow. There is approximately 6 foot head height in living/dining room. Washing service available on request. Initial fuel for woodburner included, thereafter available locally at cost. Message from the owner: There is a car park nearby which Fareham council have now decided to charge if used. We await to see when this will happen and how much it will cost, parking outside the cottage for a small vehicle will still be free.
