Even a boat launch in town behind King's Hardware at the Tidioute Park. Situated high on a grassy bluff, the home's open floor plan makes a deceivingly spacious layout for a smaller square footage. It's simple and bright with a wall of windows facing the river to take in extensive varieties of birds and all manor of wildlife in historic Tidioute. Floor to ceiling stone fireplace w/hearth, mini charcoal BBQ grill (with HOST SUPPLIED CHARCOAL & LIGHTER FLUID)! FIRE PIT in back yard with HOST SUPPLIED FIREWOOD. The nicely equipped kitchenette covers the essentials. . .stove, oven, refrigerator/freezer, microwave, coffee maker & grinder, tea pot, toaster, glassware, dishware, silverware, full PRO cutlery set, kitchen/cooking utensils, HERBS & SPICES, double sink & disposal, pots, pans, cutting boards, cheese plates and platters, mixing bowls, trash bags, paper towels, basic cleaning supplies, etc. TOILETRIES supplied. There are 2 couches occupying the open "L" shaped space (one of which is a double-sized pull-out situated in the more coved, intimate portion of the L-shape surrounded by 3 walls. All bedding sheets, blankets, wash cloths, and towels provided. All 300 ct 100% cotton percale sheets/pillow cases, new handmade quilts! Solid oak 6-seat dining table w/chairs and extra table leaf. The outside boasts a front deck for enjoying the richness of the surroundings, starry nights, and a railed stair landing on the side of the house facing the stream. This sprawling outdoor space is private and large enough for most activities, with fire pit in the back for evening relaxation, hot dogs, smores, or whoever in the group plays guitar! And did we mention, HOST SUPPLIED FIREWOOD! Leading off of the fire pit area and down toward the stream are walking trails that can take you up the ever-widening and picturesque mountain stream into a true post card atmosphere. Another beautifully canopied walking trail along the river to enjoy was an actual RR track at the turn of the century when oil was discovered in historic Tidioute. Just follow the direction of the old, rusty train trestle in front of the house and on down the lane. There are also plenty of nearby outdoor excursions to take in the area for hiking, sight-seeing, kayaking in warm weather, even skiing, snowboarding, and tubing (in winter). We have caretakers in the vicinity, and you are always welcome to contact us. On a country road. Lots of forest, wildlife. Located in State Gamelands. No homes behind or right side. Vacation cabin to the other side across the creek used by a large family infrequently. Directly across the road (and also to the right), several vacation homes on the river, mostly obscured by large trees. No homes within a mile to the left. Sportsmen use PA STATE GAME LANDS from time to time for hunting, sighting in, and target practice, and is not uncommon at certain times of the year depending on the season, what's open game, etc. This is part of life here, and what the State of Pennsylvania provides in order to maintain the beauty of the Allegheny National Forest and bring in state revenue. Though typically a peaceful and serene environment, if the possibility of noticing or witnessing these activities in the surrounding area from time to time is uncomfortable, unnerving, or unacceptable, please consider other Airbnb alternatives before staying with us and later penalizing your gracious Host in a review.
