A perfect location to give your car a rest, Castleton is home to a wide choice of cafés and inns (many of which are dog friendly), in addition to a local village store, all of which are just a short stroll from the door. Walkers, runners and cyclists of all abilities can also embark on a good variety of routes directly from the cottage, including the limestone gorge of Cave Dale which is just a 5-minute walk away. The views of the surrounding area are simply stunning, and Castleton is also home to a variety of tourist attractions including four underground show caves and Peveril Castle, perched high on a cliff. It makes a great base for visiting surrounding attractions including Bakewell, Buxton and the National Trust’s Lyme Park and Chatsworth House all of which can be reached in around half an hour.
