This bright and cozy one bedroom loft, with one and a half bathrooms and an open plan kitchen, dining and living area is the ideal home away from home. It boasts high- speed internet, Direct TV, linens, towels, a washer/dryer and all kitchen needs. Enjoy a shared outdoor covered living area and a large roof terrace---ideal for taking some sun. The loft-apartment, opens to an indoor court yard on the ground floor. Two sets of doors, a wireless intercom, buzzers and camera add to your comfort. (Our locks are changed periodically.) You will be staying in our architecturally-designed loft-Style apartment inside a fully reconstructed colonial building, with only 8 apartments, in Casa San Sebastian. Within short walking distance you have access to markets, plazas, crafts people, museums, churches, restaurants and more. There are no buses running on our street, it is safe and quiet. The apartment is fully stocked with all the amenities and comforts you are used to. There is hot water access in every faucet, great lighting, dishes for four, a medium size refrigerator, an oven, a dishwasher, towels , linens, a washer/dryer and more. A half bathroom is downstairs. Full weekly cleaning service, cable TV in English and Spanish and all utilities are covered. The apartment is around the corner of Parque San Sebastian, at the quieter end of El Centro, the colonial section of Cuenca, a real downtown part of the city. Within a couple of short blocks is a vegetable, fruit, herb, meat, grocery and prepared food traditional market; the tourist office, in Parque Calderon, is only 5 short blocks away. You can literally walk to find just about everything you want to see or find downtown. Spanish classes are offered nearby. The neighborhood houses many crafts people: cobblers, leather workers, mirror makers, tailors, seamstresses, hat makers, jewelers and more; there are museums galore, plenty of artisan plazas, restaurants, little "cafes" for the locals (and adventurer tourists, like me) and so much more. Casa San Sebastian has been published in The New York Times, Financial Times Miami Herald and many Ecuadorian architecture and design magazines.
