The Gate House - Upstairs Suite

Comfortable, quiet 2-bedroom suite with private bath and entrance in traditional Adirondack home. Park-like setting, with gardens and large trees. Bedrooms are spacious and beautifully decorated with antiques. Perfect for hikers--easy walk to Garden and Roostercomb trailheads--and guests who don't have a car (bus pickup available). Library, grocery stores, restaurants, shops all within walking distance. A third bedroom with 2 twin beds is available for an additional $40/night. You will enjoy two large bedrooms, both furnished with beautiful antiques and comfy queen-size beds. The suite includes a private bathroom with an elegant tiled shower. Wi-fi, TV (w/Netflix), small refrigerator provided; kitchen access available and coffee & tea in the morning upon request. The guest suite occupies about 70% of the second floor of a large private home. Access is through the main door of the house, and up a flight of stairs, but not directly through host's living quarters. Host is on site and lives in cabin across the yard. You can have as much or as little interaction as you want. The Gate House was built in 1910--one of the first homes on John's Brook Rd. It is located about 1/3 mile from Route 73, in a quiet, picturesque neighborhood, and faces away from the street onto a large yard with gardens. It is within easy walking distance of the library, the Valley Grocery, the Ausable Inn, and the Noonmark Diner. Also nearby are numerous local walking trails and fishing and swimming holes on John's Brook and the Ausable River. Keene Valley is served by the Trailways bus system. Burlington International Airport is about 90 minutes away and Albany International Airport is about 2 hours away. Both airports offer numerous car rental options. Amtrak serves Westport, which is about 30 minutes away--pick up/drop off potentially available by special arrangement with host. Host has a friendly and well-behaved dog. (She is not allowed in the guest suite.) Guests are welcome to use the host's kitchen.
