Summary: The Peerless Rooms Building was built in 1904 by Oscar and Lucinda Ganiard, who built many commercial buildings in Ashland, including the Ganiard Opera House. Long used for lodging in the railroad district (and known as “The Ganiard Building”), the vernacular “brick front” commercial style building is typical of the once prevalent rooming houses developed to serve the working-class men and women drawn to Ashland in the early years of the 20th century. It was under the ownership of Sarah Meekly that the building received the name, “Peerless Rooms,” in 1910. A significant element of the building is the sign painted on the brick proclaiming “Peerless Rooms” (probably dating from around 1915) with an early “Coca-Cola” advertisement. The Historic Peerless Hotel boasts many vibrant rooms and is part of the heart and soul of downtown Ashland. The Space: The Peerless welcomes you with old world charm. Suite #3 is playfully decorated in a floral Victorian-inspired style with lavish Waverly Print window treatments and walls with hand-painted accents. The separate bedroom has a queen antique bed-set from New Orleans. The spacious bathroom features side-by-side “twin” antique claw foot tubs with a skylight above the tubs and a separate glass-enclosed corner shower. The sitting room features two comfortable sitting chairs, a custom-made daybed and a pull-out trundle that can be made to accommodate a total of 4 guests in the suite. 1 Queen & 1 Twin Day Bed (with twin trundle on request.) You will have more restaurants and winery choices than you ever imagined. The theater awaits your presence in our travel centric town. Your room will be walking distance or a very short drive from many amenities the town has to offer. Lithia Park and the downtown shopping area is the perfect pedestrian friendly spot for exploring. If you're in town for the Holidays, Ashland celebrates with festive Winter lighting, bright star filled nights and fresh roasted coffees. Mt. Ashland watches over the town with happy skiers in the Winter and hikers in the Summer. The location of the Peerless Hotel is perfection. Guest Access: All rooms have keyless entry. Guests will be emailed check in information, including door codes prior to arrival. The Neighborhood: The Historic Peerless Hotel is located in downtown Ashland close to theater, galleries, restaurants and coffee. Getting Around: Just minutes from the Medford Airport and convenient cab services like Lyft and Uber offered in the area. Other Things to Note: The Peerless Restaurant and Bar offers award winning wines and global flavors. The Peerless Hotel is also rated 93 out of 100 "great for walkers". There is a Tesla double charger on site for reserving guests only. Interaction with Guests: You'll have all the privacy you need on site unless of course, you need us. We are located close by and are always available to assist our guests with making plans for theater, restaurants, shopping, wine tasting, hiking, water sports, and so much more!
