Creag Darach Cottage is a lovely semi-detached property, which is located in the heart of the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park, on the outskirts of the popular village of Aberfoyle. Creag Darach, translated to ‘oak tree on rock’, is nestled in the beautiful countryside with many majestic oak trees to see. The holiday cottage, which sits adjacent to the owner’s home, is well-equipped and set over two floors. The setting is dramatically situated between Creag Mhor hill and the Avon Dhu River, which becomes the River Forth 100 yards from the cottage. The property has a downstairs shower room, a large family kitchen/dining room and a comfortable living room with wonderful ornate carved open fire - this room has a delightful view over the river. Upstairs there are three bedrooms – one double, a twin and a single, as well as a family bathroom. The half-acre garden is south-facing with a large lawn, outdoor seating and a shared gravel driveway. From the back garden there is direct access onto Creag Mhor hill. This is a perfect holiday getaway, ideal if you enjoy long lochside walks, mountain climbing and bike rides. Situated only a few yards from the Queen Elizabeth Forest Park Milton entrance, where there are miles of designated footpaths and cycle tracks beyond, this property provides idyllic accommodation for outdoor enthusiasts. A series of fabulous art installations have been made in the forest, adding interest to this fascinating and magical place. This lovely property sits only a mile from the village and all essential amenities, including shops, pubs and restaurants. Stunning Loch Ard is only 4 miles away, where boat/canoe hire facilities are available, so you can explore the small islands, a crannog or perhaps go fishing. The Trossachs has spectacular mountains to climb, such as Ben Lomond, Ben A’an, Ben Venue and Ben Ledi. Surrounding you there is an abundance of wildlife to spot, including ospreys, red squirrels, deer, wild goats and pine martens to name a few. There are numerous outdoor activities for every age and interests, some of which include, clay pigeon shooting, horse riding, guided walks, 4x4 safari’s, quad biking and sailing. For the adventurous, Aberfoyle has a high wire forest adventure park, with the longest zip wire in Britain. There is also a local 18-hole golf course. This is an area steeped in history, with many places of interest to visit. The Loch Katrine Steamship “Sir Walter Scott” is a great cruise, reached by a thrilling drive over the twisting undulating ‘Duke’s Pass’, or experience the 3 Lochs Forest Drive. Blair Drummond Safari Park is only a half hour drive away and a visit to Stirling can provide lots of historical places of interest to explore, or a spot of retail therapy. From this central location you can easily travel and explore the National Park, Stirling and Perthshire. Shop, pub and restaurant 1 mile. The cottage from 2022 is no longer suitable for children under the age of 5 years old.
