Of the three Barnacre cottages, ‘The Shippon’ is the one designed especially with children in mind. Its three bedrooms – one single and two double – sleep 5/8 people. Simply furnished, this toasty warm cottage nevertheless has everything needed for a very comfortable stay at any time of the year. And while the cottage’s rustic fittings will ease anxieties over children’s capacity for boisterousness, it quirkiness will delight. Many of the original features of the ancient barn have been preserved; much timbering is exposed and the owl flight holes and archers' windows are preserved and snugly glazed, giving the bedrooms a unique charm. The atmosphere is completed with flagstone flooring and a woodburning stove downstairs and oak floors upstairs. We must insist on no parties or outside noise or use of hot tubs after 11pm. Anyone causing disturbance to neighbours will be asked to leave immediately.
