Beautifully restored modern country house steps from Unesco classified La Romieu

A gorgeous country house nestled in the perfect, flower filled French medieval village of La Romieu. A five minute walk from a UNESCO landmarked 14th century cloister and church, bakery, artisanal local ice-cream, wine shop, restaurants, and gardens all steps from your front door. La Romieu is designated as one of "Les Plus Beaux Villages de France" (The Most Beautiful Villages of France). This house was recently gut-renovated in 2021 by a French-American designer who's work has featured in the book "How the French Live: Modern French Style", and keeps the charm of thick stone walls and local architecture while providing all the comforts and conveniences needed for a wonderful poolside stay in the South West of France. On the main floor, an open plan kitchen, living room and dining room that is fresh and airy leads to indoor/outdoor living with views of a beautiful swimming pool, patio, outdoor table and outdoor shower. A bright, functional and whimsical (pink!) kitchen (with all the modern amenities: gas range, large fridge, dishwasher, nespresso machine, pantry) gives way to a beautiful marble dining table with views of the whole property. Back-to-back sofas provide a wonderful seating area around the fireplace. There is an office/bedroom on the ground floor with a very comfortable queen pull out sofa, as well as a desk and monitor. There is also a full bathroom with walk in shower, toilet and washer/dryer on this floor. An all white staircase leads to the second floor with 3 bedrooms. The master bedroom has a king bed, a large armoire and view of the beautiful La Romieu Collegial - as well as an en-suite bathroom. This jack & jill bathroom, with claw foot tub, separate shower and double vanity also opens up to the hallway. There is another guest room with a queen size bed and large closets as well as a sweet children's bedroom with 2 twin beds as well as twin size futon mattresses if additional children need beds. What makes this property so special is that it is secluded, with a beautiful view of fields and large garden shielded by hedges but it is also steps away from La Romieu village, which has a bakery, post office, bank, little grocery store, a few restaurants and a tabac. Everything you need without getting in the car! The village has a Monday morning market in the square and many activities linked to the Collégial as well as being a well known hiking destination for the "chemins de la compostelle". It is well located as well with larger towns of Lectoure and Condom just 10-15 minutes away. The nearest train station is Agen (with a 3 hour direct train from Paris) which is 40 minutes away.
