The water is beautiful for swimming during July, August and September. Cyclists will enjoy direct access to the Trans Canada Trail and hiking trails are a short walk away. Ladysmith has a mild fall/winter climate and a great place to come and get away from long cold winters. Guest have direct access to their own private patio and to stairs that lead directly to an ocean side deck and beach. Plus we have supplied several maps to help you find your way around. Ladysmith and Chemainus are quiet towns away from the busy city, and centrally located on the south half Vancouver Island for the many coastal activities offered. Several old English styled pubs as well as exceptional fine dining experiences are a short drive away. Boating/sailing marinas are 10 minutes by car. During the summer months, enjoy free live music at Transfer Beach Park or rent a kayak or paddle board and explore the bay. Ladysmith has a wonderful oyster farm where you can pick up fresh oysters most days and cook them up right in your suite. At the local marina, you can also hire a boat to take you crabbing, fishing, prawning or for a scenic marine tour. Cowichan Bay has one of the best eco whale tour companies on the west coast. If you are into golf, Ladysmith Golf Club - 9 Hole Par 3 is 5 minutes by car. Larger courses are also nearby in Chemainus, Duncan and Nanaimo. Grocery, pharmacy and liquor stores a short 10minute walk away. There are some very nice walking/hiking trails all throughout Ladysmith, Duncan and Naniamo and I have provided many brochures to direct you. There is no public transit in this area, but the Trans Canada Trail is right outside the door for cyclists and Hwy 1 is a 2 minute easy access away. Victoria is 1 1/2 hours south and Naniamo 25 minutes north by Trans Canada No 1 Hwy. Ferry service to the Island via Tswassen-Duke Point is 20 minutes away, or Horseshoe bay to Nanaimo 35 minutes. Chemainus Theatre is famous for it's live theatre and is 9km away. Grocery, pharmacy, liquor stores are only a short 10 minute walk away. There are many Antique stores in Ladysmith, Chemainus and Duncan. For the wine, beer and cider lovers, the Cowichan valley is well known for is many wineries, brew houses and a wonderful Cidery. Please note that transit is not available near the suite, so it is highly recommended that you come with your own mode of transportation to get around and see the many sights.
