Summary: Situated right on the doorstep of the Alberton West Forest lies our property and a tiny house called Bush Retreat. Here, you can enjoy a peaceful, quiet, solitude, and getting back to nature kind of getaway. We have a garden full of native birds singing and playing over your head and some ducks and chooks that wander around collecting bugs and worms, fertilising our organically grown vegetable gardens and fruit orchid. The Space: Our tiny house is a lovely studio space of 155 sqft. It offers guests a comfortable stay with its well-equipped kitchenette, complete with a queen sized bed, ensuite bathroom, air conditioning and heating. Perfect for 2 persons! The kitchenette has everything you need to cook your light meals with. A portable cooker, cookware, cooking utensils, cutlery, dishes & silverware, microwave and even a mini fridge. The portable cooker can be kept in the drawers when not in use to maximise space. Our bathroom facilities follow ecologically sustainable principles, including a waterless eco-friendly compost toilet, hand basin and shower (gas heated for hot showers). In Australia's severe climatic challenge of bush fires and drought, we help to save the environment by conserving water using an eco-friendly toilet. Wastes are broken down in the compost toilet via an aerobic decomposition process. It is a waterless system (no need to flush!), whereas a standard dual flush toilet would use up to 350L of water per week.. An aeration fan helps in the decomposition process and minimises odours. If you're using your own soap, shampoo, tooth paste, we ask that you bring biodegradable ones so that the grey water runoff does not harm the environment. Thank you! Guest Access: Guests will have access to the tiny house and its surroundings, including our acre garden. Guests are not allowed to enter into the paddocks that have cattle in them. The Neighborhood: Our local recommendation: Food Scene 1. Wild Fish Port Albert - It is situated on the wharf at Port Albert overlooking the water 2. Cafe Aga 3. Tom’s Cap Vineyard - For beautiful food and scenery Sightseeing 1. Tarra Bulga National Parks - For beautiful scenery and walks. There's a suspension bridge at Bulga Park 2. Port Albert - A fishing village, maritime museum, and for fish and chips on the wharf 3. Wilson’s Promontory National Park - For stunning scenery and beaches Shopping 1. Woolworths Yarram Getting Around: By Car: - 13 kms from Yarram and a 2 1/2 hours drive from Melbourne By Public Transport: - Train to Traralgon and bus to Yarram or V/Line bus from Southern Cross railway station. Other Things to Note: - Occasional farm vehicle may drive past during your stay Interaction with Guests: Guests will enjoy your own private space but we are always happy to chat with you.
