Lake Wind Beach House

This unique rental is located 1 block from the best that Grand Marais has to offer. Romantically rustic yet affording every modern convenience including it's great kitchen, we're sure that you will feel quite at home at this northwoods retreat. Guests that have stayed here have embraced what this house has to offer. A kitchen equipped for the finest chef, a large unique fireplace, a number of comfortable sitting areas, some higher tech amenities all make for an enjoyable and entertaining opportunity. A convenient 1 block walk to the beach, the bay, and town is all it takes to enjoy a unique small town experience . Or wander the vast undeveloped land and pristine shoreline of Lake Superior surrounding Grand Marais. The entire house is at your disposal except perhaps a private storage area or two. We are always happy to help out. When possible we prefer to meet with you upon arrival to familiarize you with the house or answer questions. We are year round residents so can be available a good part of the time. The Lake Wind House is located in the "Beach Community" portion of Grand Marais which is on the shore of Lake Superior. The Township Marina on the bay is across the street and downtown is a short distance up the hill to the south. Behind the property is township property. A ball diamond, community center , playground and campground are located there. This property has a general feel of removal and privacy even though there are so many things to do within walking distance. Grand Marais is located remotely from larger towns or cities. It is accessed from the South via highway M77 north out of Seney. Some call this stretch of M77 the "largest private drive in the world" as it goes to Grand Marais and nowhere else and there is not much along the way but forest. Grand Marais is accessed from east and west via H58 which is paved from Grand Marais west to Munising but unpaved heading east. Be sure to stock up on gas and supplies at the Bayshore Market if leaving town when your tank is low as there is no other stations closer than 25 miles. Grand Marais is a very small town and provides us locals pretty well. But it is advised that you bring some of your out of the ordinary supplies with you. We provide an overflow refrigerator and ample cabinet space at the house for a bit of stocking up. A weekly town farmers market in the summer is a great place to look for locally grown vegetables and baked goods. We also provide a reasonable amount paper goods, trash bags etc. to get you started. We don't offer cable or satellite TV but it is a Roku TV that streams content from the Internet including Netflix. . We have a Bluray/DVD player and VHS tape player with an assortment of Titles available to watch.
