Our guest suite of two bedrooms (sleeps 4) and full bath/shower on the second floor of our house. All the beds are twin size. The larger bedroom has two twin beds pushed together. The smaller bedroom has a daybed with a second mattress on a rolling platform that sits under the daybed and rolls out from under the daybed. Please enjoy walking through our six acres of beautiful gardens and sitting by our secluded pond & campfire. You can take out a rowboat, canoe, or kayak. The guest suite is private and separated from the rest of the home. It has its own thermostat and air conditioners in each room in the summer. Guests can adjust room temperature to their liking. There is a microwave, toaster oven, coffee maker, and small fridge in the first bedroom for guest use. There are extra pillows and blankets in the closets, and extra bath towels in the first bedroom . Upon your arrival, you will find bottled water, coffee/ tea, and some snacks. We will always be home to greet you and answer any questions you have regarding directions or places to visit. PLEASE DO NOT INVITE EXTRA GUEST(S) TO STAY OVERNIGHT AFTER CHECKING IN. PLEASE ARRANGE WITH AirBnB BEFORE ARRIVAL TO ADD ANOTHER GUEST. Park in front of the house near the lamp post and use the front door to go in and out. The front foyer is private from the rest of the home. Walk in and go directly upstairs. We are located 4.2 miles from Nichols College; 4.4 miles from Woodstock Academy; 7.1 miles from Marianapolis; 7.6 miles from Pomfret School / Rectory School; and about 25 miles from Worcester area colleges. We are close to Thompson Speedway, Sturbridge and Brimfield & 1-1.5 hours from Providence, RI, Hartford, CT, Northampton and Boston, MA. You can also travel 45 minutes to New London, which has ferries to Long Island and Block Island. New London has the closest sand beach and amusement park rides. There are many restaurants to choose from, located 10-15 minutes from our home. Woodstock's Roseland Cottage is a historical home and museum with beautiful gardens, located on historic Woodstock Hill. Putnam hosts antiques shops and restaurants. Historical Sturbridge Village is 25 minutes from us. Check out the huge flea and antiques markets in Brimfield in May, July, and September. Go see a Paw Sox baseball game in Worcester. Or visit Indian Ranch in Webster for outdoor concerts. We will be on site during your stay. Our residence is on the first floor of the house. The guest suite encompasses the second floor. Woodstock is a rural, historical area with many beautiful country roads, farms, parks, and wildlife. Nearby Putnam CT has excellent restaurants and we are close to several antiques shops & gift stores, wineries & craft breweries, private schools (Pomfret School, Rectory School, Marianapolis) & colleges (Nichols, UConn); 30 minutes to Brimfield & Worcester, 50 -90 minutes to Boston, Northampton, Hartford, & Providence. You will need a car to enjoy the area. We have ample off-street parking. Feel free to bring bicycles. We have acreage for trucks, campers, trailers during the spring, summer, and fall. If you are interested in birding, we get red-railed hawks throughout the year. In the winter you can view eagles nearby. We have loads of hummingbirds and orioles, bluebirds, cardinals, and many other birds. The pond has herons that visit every year from spring through fall. We have ducks and geese on the pond, and sometimes we see visiting cormorants. Two towns over hosts the Audubon Society's birding center. The building has local animals (stuffed) indigeneous to this area. There are also lots of woodland parks for hiking. The nearest beach is in New London, 45 minutes away, on the Long Island Sound. Or visist the museums in Mystic Seaport, go to the Aquarium, or visit the USS Nautilus Submarine Museum in Groton. There are many farms around us. Next door you can see the cows grazing in the field. Across the street are ponies and donkeys, and if you come Labor Day weekend, you can go to the Woodstock Fair, which is a real, historic farm-community fair. There are lots of rides for kids, and animals to see. They have tractor pulls, contests, and loads of food vendors. Sit on an antique tractor and listen to a concert. Children can visit newly-birthed calves nearby at a local dairy farm. and enjoy a a delicious ice-cream cone while visiting. Get real milk in a bottle, and try their coffee-flavored milk! Another dairy farm nearby sells fresh skyr, yogurt, and baked goods. You can also buy organic meats from locally grown animals. There are plenty of farm stands nearby to purchase fresh produce or buy beautiful floral bouquets.
