Built in 1924, this original shearing barn has been lovingly restored over many years and carefully decorated to reflect the history, charm and beauty of the surrounding area. Packed to the rafters with character, the property at Wood Duck Cottage has been completely renovated with modern comforts without losing any of its unique personality. High ceilings and a huge living area make this an ideal family getaway. There is just so much to do around the unpretentious country homestead and you’re spoilt for choice in the local town which has wonderful restaurants and services. At night, come home to your country haven and relax in front of the out-door fire place while you enjoy a glass of locally sourced wine. Things to do around Yea. Yea is a charming town with a warm, friendly community. During the day take a stroll around the quaint township to admire the historic buildings still in use by local businesses, pubs and restaurants. Visit the Yea Wetlands which abound with native flora and fauna, or take a short drive to the wineries of the nearby Yarra Valley. Outdoor activities For a more energetic weekend getaway in Victoria, play tennis at the Yea tennis courts or golf at the local Yea golf club. Go bushwalking in the Kinglake National Park or visit the Murrindindi website for adventure activities like abseiling, horse riding and water sports on nearby Lake Eildon. There are golf and tennis facilities in town and lots of community activities during the week. Horse riding lessons and trail riding are just down the road at Yea Riding School. Children and adults are welcome, book with Sarah at the Yea Riding School. Foodie paradise The Farmers Market at the old railway comes alive on the first Saturday of each where you can purchase the divine local produce. There are some lovely places to eat out, with enough variety to satisfy all taste buds. There are plenty of great pubs around if you feel like a hearty pub meal or want to relax and have a drink.
