Nana's Lake Nest is located in the Delaware River Valley, just 2 hours from Manhattan and Philadelphia, in a private lake community. 15 minutes from Lake Walenpaupack, Hawley and Honesdale, and a bit longer of a drive to ski resorts and the Delaware Water Gap, the area is rich in natural beauty. There are hundreds of miles of hiking trails, mountain views, glacial lakes, waterfalls, and plenty of country roads to get lost on. Farmers markets, festivals, yard sales and flea markets are abundant in the summer, with roadside food markets and antique stores open year round. Set on a private acre of protected forest, Nana's Lake Nest is a spacious and airy two bedroom one bath open-concept cabin with a sleeping loft and three-season porch. Huge prow windows and sliding doors fill the space with light. Bloomed trees diffuse sunlight, keeping the interior cool during the high summer. Local pine is featured throughout the finishes and furnishings, giving a rustic feel while keeping the interior bright and also sustainable. Each bedroom features a queen size mattress and sliding doors that egress to the deck and have views of fauna, trees and lots of wildlife. The loft features four sleeping pods with two queens and two twin XLs, which are the width of twins but the length of queens, and two of the pods give wonderful views out of the prow, giving the feeling of waking up in the trees. All mattresses are inner spring with certified green foam pillow tops and are very comfortable. The open-concept kitchen and living room provides ample room for hanging out. There is plenty of counter space and it is fully stocked to prepare all the bounty you'll find from warm weather markets. I am an avid cook and this was an extremely important detail. The huge couch can seat about as many people that can fit into the beds. Paired with a roaring fire, it's the perfect place to cozy up in the winter, and a great place to laze around after a long day outside. Speaking of outside, which is the reason I come to the cabin, there is a fire pit and multiple grills with an outdoor table and chairs to enjoy meals al fresco. There is also comfortable seating and a table inside the porch should you care to dine indoors. The cabin is my special place away from the city and all its headaches. I ask that you treat not only the house but also the surrounding environment with respect. The community, as well as myself, is big on conservation and preservation. Respect nature and it will respect you back! The whole house is available for use and is accessible via a lockbox for self check-in. There is one locked closet for personal storage and the shed is also off limits. There is access to the private lake. Renters are able to use the private beach, swim, and fish, along with a valid PA fishing permit. I am reliably available via mobile or e-mail. Approximately two hours from Manhattan and Philadelphia, there are bus lines that run into Hawley, PA. The bus stop is approximately 25 minutes from the house. There is no reliable public or private transportation. The bus should only be an option for others joining you as they will need to be picked up. The neighborhood itself is very quiet and sleepy. I rarely see anyone from the property besides someone passing on a walk or the multitude of deer, turkeys, rabbits, foxes, and other creatures of the woods.
