Cozy studio apartment with patio and yard that has a beautiful view of the international Lake Memphremagog. It is close to the Kingdom Trails, Burke Mountain, Jay Peak Resort and just a 10 minute drive to Canada (30 minutes to Magog, Quebec). Lots of opportunity for outdoor activities such as hiking, kayaking, mountain biking, fishing, sailing, skiing/snowboarding and more. Welcome to use the patio and fire pit (Please bring your own wood and buy local). - Private Kitchen - Patio -Great View -Cable TV (with Netflix) -Laundry if needed (Shared Space and at extra cost) -Owners have three friendly dogs (Goldendoodle, Golden Shepard, & Cattle Dog Mix) - Please note these pups live right above you and it's their home, too. Expect some occasional noise of pawprints or toys on the floor. If it becomes an issue during your stay, please contact Ian or Taryn. -Chickens and a rooster also free range the property during the day. They are all very friendly but please be mindful that the rooster loves to crow! Private entrance & patio with firepit. Both owners are school teachers so we will be around on the weekends and in the afternoon on weekdays. Always reachable by text. Ian & Taryn's place is located in Newport, Vermont, United States. Newport itself, sits at the southern end of Lake Memphremagog, a Native American name meaning , "beautiful waters." Bring your snowshoes or cross-country skis because you are a 5-minute drive to the lake where you can traverse in a variety of directions once it's frozen. Best to check before you proceed. However, cross-country skiing on the bike path is permitted and connects to wooded trails as well. The top of the lake is in Magog, QC (Canada), a charming, French Canadian city, 30 minutes away by car. Along the way, the trip takes you through some of the lovely Eastern Township communities providing a variety of seasonal offerings. A passport is required. The house is centrally located making it ideal for those who just like to walk around and see historic buildings, churches, and art galleries. We have a diverse selection of restaurants with offerings ranging from "Dusit Thai" to local craft beers and wines at "The Warehouse - Taps. Eats. Billiards". If pizza and subs are what you are after try "Hoagies." If you are wanting Italian, then "Lago Trattoria" is where you'll want to eat out. A short drive away, with an extensive menu and bar you'll find "Vermont Pie and Pasta". If you are really into pizza "The Parker Pie Pizza Co." is a 20 minute drive and they have many local brews on tap. For breakfast or lunch, you might consider "Roaster's Cafe and Deli," The Newport Market" or the "Brown Cow". If you're looking for deck space on the lake "The Eastside" has nice comfort food. Local breweries to visit are: Kingdom Brewery, about 15 minutes away and Farm Hillstead Brewery, about 40 minutes away. St. J Brewery is also 40 minutes away. 30 minutes away is Jay Peak Resort with Pump House Indoor Water Park, Athletic Fields, Clips N Reels, Golfing and Skiing/Snowboarding. We are located just 10 minutes from Derby Line if you are traveling for a Global Entry Review or to visit friends or family at the Haskell Library. Hosts are both teachers. Please be mindful when booking with us on weekdays that you may hear us getting ready for school in the early mornings.
