Just 150 metres from Newcastle's famous Merewether Beach and Ocean baths this beautiful period home has been totally renovated to modern standards and luxuriously furnished. The extensive front section is dedicated to B & B accommodation with two bedrooms, two bathrooms, wide hallways and a large guest lounge/library. With high ceilings, tallow wood floors, the finest wool carpets, deep verandahs, big windows with plantation shutters and generous space, Merewether Beach House is both private and quiet. Each bedroom has access through french doors to a walled garden. This area can serve as two charming B & B accommodations or be combined to create a very special stay for a small group looking for comfort and space. Discounts are available for multiple rooms and stays longer than 3 nights The B & B room priced on this website is the bedroom 1 B & B suite which consists of an elegant bedroom with french doors to the front walled garden, wide hallways, private entry, a large unique bathroom with a central stone bath, two vanities and shower and a generous comfortable lounge and library. The bedroom has a smart t.v. and reverse cycle air conditioning, the lounge also has a smart t.v. with foxtel, gas fireplace and tea/coffee making facilities. The library area has a daybed setup which can convert to 2 high quality single beds. Guests have 24hr private access. There are no cooking facilities in the b & b section so breakfast is provided. A surcharge will apply if there are more than 2 guests. A minimum 2 night stay is required for this large area. All guests can access free wifi, A second b & b option is bedroom 2 which has private entry via french doors from the slate verandah and a delightful pebble ensuite bathroom.There is tea/coffee making facilities in the room, smart t.v. and reverse cycle air conditioning. Includes breakfast. we accept single night stays for. Throw a towel over your shoulder (or a surfboard) - a short 100 metre stroll and you can take a seat at the new Whale watching station. Down the steps and you can plunge into the largest ocean baths in the southern hemisphere. Fabulous Surf House sits on the beachfront just metres further on with its great restaurant, bar, cafe and takeaway. You are now on Newcastle's famous Bather's Way. Get some exercise and follow it along the beaches and headlands, beach cafes and parks towards Newcastle city. If you like bush walking or cycling you will love Glenrock Recreation area just next door. The 'Great North Walk' heads along the uncrowded beach to the lagoon and rain forest. A short drive (or a good walk) will have you in the vibrant eating and shopping precincts of The Junction or Darby Street. a little bit further and you can enjoy Newcastle's amenities - museums, harbour, music venues etc. Take a day trip to the Hunter Valley vineyards.
