The Hidden House: lovely house & garden, Dawlish

The Hidden House is a lovely 3 bedroom period property that’s big enough for families & groups, but cosy enough for a couple, close to the centre of the lovely Devon seaside town of Dawlish. With a good size garden and patio, views over the hills and just a stone’s throw from the centre of Dawlish, it’s the perfect for base for week by the sea, a walking holiday or a relaxing long weekend. NB this is a dog friendly listing so not suitable for people with severe dog allergies Tucked away on quaint and quirky Regent St, the Hidden House is a light and airy period property with lots of outside space. There are 3 bedrooms: one with a king size bed, a room with 2 bunk beds (so 4 beds), a double bedroom and a double sofa bed downstairs. There are also two travel cots available. There’s a main bathroom with bath and separate shower upstairs and a downstairs loo and shower. The kitchen - which looks on to the garden, is well appointed with double oven, microwave, fridge freezer and hob. There’s a dishwasher and washing machine and heated drying rack as well as a washing line outside. The garden consists of a large patio with picnic bench and lawn and offers lovely views across the hills. There’s also an outside store for bikes, prams, boogie boards, inflatables etc. PLEASE NOTE: Whilst we can sleep up to 10 adults, there are only 6 adult size dining chairs, plus 2 bar stools & high chairs. So if you’re a large group planning to spend lots of time in the house, & have big sit down meals together, it might not be for you. There is free on street parking but it’s often hard to find a space. Don’t worry though - no one minds you stopping to offload and then parking somewhere nearby. There’s always a space a road or two away. As for getting around: you’re right in the centre so everything is in easy walking distance. If you struggle with your mobility, there’s a place nearby where you can hire wheelchairs, mobility scooters and other aids. We’ve had guests use this service before really successfully. Pavements close to the house are quite narrow and there are a few high kerbs to deal with but all in all we manage well with our family member who’s a wheelchair user. The Hidden House is set on a quiet road a few minutes walk from the centre of beautiful Dawlish. With the river running through it, its own beach, and easy connection via train to many other lovely places like Teignmouth and Dawlish Warren, it’s a great place for a family holiday. It’s also close to fabulous pathways so perfect for anyone wanting a walking holiday. Nearby attractions: Shaldon Wildlife Trust zoo - 15 min drive Dawlish Paddle Board hire - delivered to your door! Dawlish Warren beach/nature reserve - 10 min drive/25 mins train/50 min walk Powderham Castle - 15 min drive Pennywell Farm - 35 min drive Babbacome Model Village - 25 min drive, 50 mins train. Teignmouth - 10 min drive, 22 mins by train. There’s a brilliant railway line that hugs the coast and which will take you to all the best spots (Teignmouth, Dawlish Warren etc) nearby.
