La Casita on Harris Creek, St. Michaels
Newly constructed architecturally unique guesthouse inspired by the historic barns of the Chesapeake. Stay in luxury on a secluded 40 acre farm on Harris Creek, be at one with nature & still only 5 min from town's fine dining, shops & charm . With 360 views, TV/Wi-fi, full bath/shower, galley kitchen w/ microwave, fridge w/ice maker, washer/drier, patio fire pit, private pool & kayaks. We comply with Talbot County's zoning that requires a 3 night minimum ST-934-HUD 2020. Our guests tell us what they value most is the privacy and room to roam, 360 views bustling with wildlife, the native gardens and their pollinators, the stars at night. Each season has its charms and activities but doing nothing is always an option - rest & breathe. But if you must DO something, kayak in the creek, linger in the mineral pool (May-Sept) or settle yourself in the native gardens to watch nesting eagles in the winter & a parade of avian visitors using the Atlantic flyway in the spring & fall, or experience beekeeping in the small apiary. The Casita is a stand alone house, part of a compound designed to evoke the classic barns of the Chesapeake. Guests have a private patio, parking, and private entrance. And guests have exclusive access to the grounds (half woods, half field and flowers), gardens, Harris Creek and private dock year-round and kayaks in spring, summer and fall and the mineral pool May-end of September. We guard your privacy. We are onsite and you may see us out tending to the property, but we endeavor to stay out of sight. We are just a text away if you need us for anything, anytime. Close to the major attractions of historic St. Michaels but with exceptional privacy (see NOTE below). Half of the property is woodland, half is farmland so there is plenty of space to stretch your legs. Five minutes by car to the Inn at Perry Cabin, the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum and town. If you'd rather stay put and enjoy the quiet, stop in town for provisions and never leave the farm. With the exception of occasional crabbers or paddle boarders on the creek, you won’t see a soul but you might hear the sheep down the road if the wind is right. If you want to go further afield, we’re in the middle of ‘Chesapeake Country’ with iconic and historic towns like Easton and Tilghman Island, wide open farms and wetland preserves such as the Black Water Wildlife Refuge, one of a kind historic places such as Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad National Historic Park. Did we mention the food? Oysters, crabs, down home cooking & high cuisine, it's all right here. NOTE: temporarily, it is important to let you know that we are adding an addition to the west side of the main house. In order to preserve the peace and quiet and your privacy, there will be limited construction during the weekdays. You can see the addition in the photo - a section of unfinished roof. We hope to wrap this up soon! Bring your bikes - the town and its attractions are eminently bikeable. Talbot County roads are ideal for long bike rides with dedicated lanes, historic little towns, friendly places to stop and rest. Book a ‘cruise’ through the Museum on one of their historic boats like the Winnie Estelle. The galley kitchen has a Jenn Air stove top, stainless refrigerator with ice maker, disposal, microwave. There is not a conventional oven but one can cook out on the fire pit (wood fired with grill top).
