Single room en-suite Gourgé, nr Parthenay Poitiers

I hope you find my home "Les Belles Étoiles" (The beautiful stars) in Gourgé to be comfortable, welcoming and practical. It lies on the Chemin Saint Jacques, perfect for visitors just passing through, or stay longer if you prefer. Included in the price is a basic self serve breakfast. The area has idyllic villages, chateaus, relaxing walks and picnics, bicycle routes & great cheap lunches. For more activity visit the coast, nearby towns, or a nearby theme park such as Futuroscope or Puy Du Fou. This bedroom has a sink with hot & cold water, wardrobe and drawer space for clothes, a kettle and a welcome pack of coffee, teas, milk and sugar. You have a private shower room with wc, a desk and a staircase leading up to the bedroom and a small private seating area. This is equipped with UK TV channels, a DVD player and bluetooth soundbar system. A small folding bed is also available. All these areas are locked off via a single door. You have use of the shared living room, games room, kitchen/dining and garden areas. You have free use of the BBQs and outside seating to make you feel at home. The shared living room has a TV, DVD player and bluetooth sound system for you to use. There is also a washing machine and dishwasher. Parking is available at the house or the free car park just next to the garden. I will be staying at the house with my guests, sharing some of the space and socialising as much as you want but I will also try and give you as much private space as you want. I will include bread, butter and jam for your breakfast each day and you have full use of the kitchen equipment if you want to cook. Please let me know in advance of booking if you have any food or pet allergies, as assistance animals will be here occasionally. All guests are supplied with written information on the house and the local area in order to maximise the enjoyment and safety of your stay. The house is a very short drive south of the Loire valley, under two hours drive from La Rochelle and only a one hour drive from the beautiful Marais Poitevin area, known also as “Green Venice”. The nearest town for shopping is the ancient fortified town of Parthenay, only 10km away. Gourgé has a shop that sells everything and Patou and Valerie at "La P'tite Marmite" restaurant/bar will be most happy to serve you as you sit outside in the sun in the village square next to the 9th century church. Take a walk down to the Roman bridge over the river Thouet and have a picnic, or if you prefer you can buy a fishing permit at the local shop and sit by the river all day. The area is full of things to do and see for families or travellers and also ideal for writers, artists and musicians looking to find inspiration or just to relax. You will find much more detail on the local area in the information pack supplied in your room. The area has lots of great walking and cycle routes for you to choose from, not least the Chemin Saint Jacques (Santiago de Compostela) which runs through the village and is popular with travellers of all kinds. I have bicycles here that are free for you to use. Getting to the house is easy by road from all directions via péage motorways and/or more scenic routes that save you the péage costs. If you prefer to fly here or take the train then Tours, Nantes, Bordeaux and Poitiers have train stations and airports, the nearest being Poitiers, just a 45 minute drive away and transport can be arranged . If you want to go to Paris then you can take the train from Poitiers and be there in less than 2 hours. In the other direction you can be in La Rochelle on the coast in less than 2 hours by car.
