The large heated pool is a newly installed 10 x 4 meters large with Salt water. (Pool is open May to September) The Travertine tiled patio allows for ample sun beds and provides a space to rest and unwind while enjoying the sunshine. Alfresco dinning for the entire family can be enjoyed, the outdoor dinning area with a large BBQ is provided for summer meals. The comfortable outdoor Lounge allows you to make the most of the longer Summer days beside the pool. The house is fully equipped also with French and English Satellite TV. The lovely caretakers, Lorna & Guy will be here to welcome you and reside in a private gite on the property and are here to support you during your stay. Bienvenue & Bonnes Vacances! Full use of the entire property. Adjacent to the property, opposite the 10 meter heated saltwater pool you will also have access to our orchard for plenty of fruit picking at the right time of year. The property is entirely yours. No shared spaces! Guests are allowed to use the house as their own. Certain barn doors in the courtyard are locked for safety. An ideal base for exploring the beautiful local towns and villages or visiting one of Angouleme’s many festivals. The picturesque village of Saint Simeux on the right bank of the Charente River is a 5 minute drive away. We are a 1hr15min dive to the beach also if you want a change of scenery, there are also surf beaches in the region. Quite often you will see the horse riders going by the house, or the numerous walking groups who enjoy the walking paths in our area. You will feel like you are in the country side, but all that you need is just a short drive away. We are truly in love with this area of France, unspoilt, green vines in Summer, there is no better way to get away from it all. Angoulême’s Festival International de la Bande Dessinée is held every January, the second largest comics festival in Europe. A must for fans of vintage cars, the International Circuit des Remparts turns Angoulême into a giant museum on wheels where old-timers and classic cars make fans dream during three days in September. For movie lovers The Film Francophone d’Angouleme is in August. November sees the city host the three day Les Gastronomades; for food and wine lovers alike. The spectacular Montgolfières is bi-annual, the next being August 2019, held 5 mins away, which sees hundreds of balloons taking to the Charente skyline. The house is set in a small hamlet on the outskirts of Saint Simeux. Saint-Simeux is a small town in the center-west of France, located in the department of Charente and the region of New Aquitaine . We are located on a walking route and surrounded by vineyards and forest. The closest train station to Saint-Simeux is Châteauneuf-sur-Charente (3.32 km), Jarnac (12.81 km), Angoulême (15.31 km). Nearby towns are Mosnac , Champmillon, Châteauneuf-sur-Charente , Moulidars , Sireuil . The closest big town to Saint-Simeux is Angoulême and is 14 kilometers east as the crow flies. The stunning City of BORDEAUX is just an hours drive away or 30 mins via a direct train out of Angouleme. Perfect for day trips. The TGV (Fast Train) takes 2 hours with a direct service from Paris to Angouleme. You can also get a TGV train direct from CDG Paris Airport to Angouleme. Hire cars are also available for rent from Bordeaux Airport or the city of Angouleme. There is also a Taxi service outside the train station in Angouleme. This is our house so our love and care has gone into restoring it.
