Hafod is an exclusive, luxury 'off-grid' geodesic dome, new to the Redwood Retreat site, and home of sister dome Norwegian Wood. Guests are also free to use the 'chillout' dome, further down the hillside which is shared with it's sister dome, Norwegian Wood. Made for adults, this seclusion gives the break you always promised yourself. The retreat is based on the owner's smallholding and is very exclusive with only two glamping sites available so you are not sharing your holiday with your neighbours. Built-in a small old quarry the elevated position gives an amazing view across the valley. A feature of the dome is the massive clear viewing window with nearly 180-degree clear vision. The windows pick up the morning sun as well as giving a view as the sun slips away into the west behind the hills. One mile from Rhayader town centre with a choice of pubs, cafe's supermarkets and shops. A special treat is to have a Red Kite hovering just a few feet above your head. Expect to see Nuthatches, Woodpeckers, Blue and Great Tits, Robins and Redstarts, Goldfinches and Thrushes to name a few. Every year families of Swallows and House Martins seek housing around Andy & Katherine's house nearby. Occasionally a fox can be seen as it sneaks across the landscape. A Hare is a frequent guest in the paddocks below the dome too. At dusk, bats can appear as they seek a snack on insects. Hafod at Redwood Retreat can also be rented together with Norwegian Wood on the same site - perfect for two couples. You will have access to the entire geo-dome and the surrounding grounds. There is a chillout dome for use by both domes' guests at Hafod and Norwegian Wood. Bookings and initial communication will be handled by Quality Unearthed, and the owners/caretakers will be available during your stay if you should need anything. The name Rhayader or Rhaeadr Gwy in Welsh means 'waterfall on the Wye'. Rhayader is a busy and historic market town in the north-west of the ancient county of Radnorshire. It is the first town on the banks of the River Wye and has The nearest train stations to Rhayader are Pen-y-Bont railway station (Located 8.8 miles away) and Llandrindod railway station (Located 9.4 miles away). There are also good road links in and around Mid Wales. Regarding Wi-Fi, please note that although there is no Wi-Fi in the dome itself, it is available on site. There is however, excellent phone signal located in the dome.
